Hot stamping murdered inlay chip (2 Viewers)

Hey Gents,

Might be a silly question, but can you murder a chip with an inlay and then hot stamp it? Or will that look bad concerning the recess?

It'll look bad, and you'll lose a ton from snapping and the need to over stamp due to depth.

Yup. The trick is not milling it and just restamping with the clay that's left. It's not perfect, but it's a great option for a barrel or two for a set.

Got it, that makes sense. Yeah would just be a barrel or 2 at most. I guess I’ll look at other already stamped options. And of course with @TheChipVault blessing for the stamp/artwork.

So you can't just erase a part of a hot stamp. It's kinda all or nothing. But think of it like a cover up tattoo. If we take the old off and replace it with new, and it matches 80% of the old, that little bit showing will be nearly unnoticeable with it having no foil and the new foil catching the eye.

Thats where if you want an Agave 25k, use an agave chip and you fixed most of that problem.

Attached is a good example of a lot of old around a new stamp. The pic and angle is showing a lot that you can't see head on, and this isn't tuned, it's just one chip I did to test the 500 stamp.

Thank you for the visual. Yes that makes total sense. So the RA $20 or say RA $50 would be great candidates since the general stamp is the same and the “$20” or “$50” would be pretty much covered up since “25,000” takes up more un-used clay space anyway right? @Josh Kifer

Restamps will be deeper than the original, but with some play and getting those edges worn down, they start looking very good after a few games imo.

I would have thought removing the inlay would not remove anything other than the inlay from the chip & not weaken it for stamping.

Chips arnt that thick. Remove 2-3mms from each side with the inlay and glue then need 2-3mms to dig the stamp in, and you are running out of depth. The center of the chips will actually push out and ruin the other side.
