Good morning PCF. I found myself with some extra racks of chips recently and started down this rabbit hole of designing a fun tacky set. Curious to get your opinions before I put in my order with Gear.

Started with a pink theme. Even found a watermelon pic for the watermelon chip. Thought about various $5 options that included pink. HSI $5 and CDI $5 are most on hand for me. Went back and forth on RHC vs THC vs mixed (no longer necessary).

Then the LE chips came in and some more options opened up including the THC $5 and the blaze $25 THC seems to have taken over the top spot.

The current selection.

Got rid of the pink RHC. $25 and $100 are locked in. The $1 is down to those 2 THC. The $5 is kinda up in the air still. I don’t exactly like the look of a set without a red chip but maybe I could live with it?

Also tried out some other LE options.

What are your thoughts PCF? Also there is a $2 inlay design and cut cards that are just as awesome/tacky/fun as these inlays. Will be revealed later. Thank to those who have shared their opinions with me privately along this journey.

The labels are ordered. Half the thickness and x1500. Cut cards in the works and dealer button being designed. May debut at a local game this month.

I don't think overlabeling would work considering how worn they are. Especially the $5s. Are you gonna mill, or shape murder?

I’m going to try it out with thin over labels first. I’m not planning on destroying anything. The faux shaped inlay on the LE $25 helps and the alternative is RHC watermelon (I’ve heard enough RHC/THC backlash I can’t do it lol). This is just a fun project anyway. No need to go with less expensive chips. Patience isn’t my strong point most of the time.

Well fml. The $25s sold out in seconds. The labels are already shipped.

Is it worth even considering either of these other options already in my possession in abundance or stick to the original plan?

The inlays are not faux shaped but rather actual shaped inlays. Also I really think you should get one or two of these chips in hand before you go for this. Maybe you have that already? I would be very surprised if these were suitable for overlabeling.

This was never going to be perfect. But unless I can get my hands on a rack it’s a moot point anyway. My options including RHC watermelon seem underwhelming. And historically I don’t settle.

I still think the project works with the green $25. I think you have to go with the one below, the other one has blue spots that look similar to your $1.00 chip (at least in the photo).

There’s part of me that wants to go back to RHC watermelon with a slightly larger melon label. Better spot match. Better spot colors. Better chip condition. However it’s RHC...

Even tried out ESPT1k but that dark spot doesn’t seem to work as well as a white spot.

The CDI 98 $25 just seems kinda dull and someone pointed out privately to me it’s too much CDI 98?

Thanks for the thoughts.

I like that watermelon 25 in this set, but depends if you can live with mixing thc/rhc.

Another option could be to go all rhc? Should be some decent options for colorful recent chips maybe.

One nice advantage of RHC here is the bigger sized label.

These come to mind:

Ysabel $2
IOC fracs or something else Hot pink. Or maybe the LE $3 although that's not Hot pink.
Watermelons
Various simple white ones to chose from recent chiproom offerings.

I don’t hate the ESPT1k if you want to stay with THC. It still fits the theme of the set and the edge marks also help differentiate the higher denoms from the lower denoms.

The RHC watermelon also looks good. I feel like for the theme of this set, the non-chippers will be focusing on something other than RHC v THC.

I have never done an over label before. If you find something better down the road, how hard is it to remove the over label?

Yeah I originally was aiming for RHC since the watermelons and RPC had the pink spots I liked and I had surplus racks of both. HSI primary $5 (I have 7 racks) didn’t look right. I’m not sacking my JD $5s for this. I tried out various $1s as well (too of thread) but settled on Paris $1s for color and simplicity (I have 12 racks already).

These aren’t Gear labels and they’re very permanent. They leave a residue behind that I had to take off with isopropyl alcohol. So this is basically a one way trip barring @Josh Kifer milling them later.

It’s not perfect for sure but I doubt even my pockets can dig up a rack of blaze LE $25.

Edited for finding something better.
