With a possible reunion brewing mid-October, I've been getting nostalgic over the Black Cat pub crew. Great game, great bunch. Still going strong under a different name.

Trawling through the fb group, I have grabbed some of the game / event promos I did each week.

These were broadly:

1. Pop culture rip offs
2. Containing bad puns
3. Hacked together in Photoshop
4. Referencing in-game promos (aces cracked or 72o bluff)

One of the players, a guy called Sandy, achieved notoriety by destroying all comers with 93o. He was an excellent villain.

Shocking Photoshop skills aside (which are still crap to this day), the promos added fun and color to the events.

The Scaramouche was the original venue in Glasgow. £5 was the max buyin stipulated by the UK Gambling Commission at the time (thanks for that!)

Anyone else do similar? Please post your promos too!

I got nuttin. My invites are via text and pale in comparison. The occasional pun on fictional players attending: Ray Zerfold, Chase Rivers, Winnie Munney, etc.

I watch and get a lil misty because Flash Gordon is the second best Jets QB ever lol

^ some greats in there, Jack! I particularly like 'Ferris Bueller's Seven Deuce Off' - perfect fit for the 72o promo! White Men Can't Fold is also a strong possibility!

'Quadfather' is epic. Three parts, lots of potential here!

^ Very much like "Into Donkness" - there are at least 4 SF nuts in the crew, so anything SF or fantasy plays well... "Spades of Glory" maybe? Prolly some good comedy value with the posters for that movie!

Love Blazing Straddles but that's liable to confuse the wider donk group.

It's the perversion of taglines that I quite like. The devil's in the detail. One of my favorite bastardized taglines is for Quads. All part of the playful, irreverent Black Cat humor.
