Hoping some smart folks can confirm/refute my thinking on a small but efficient set.

GOALS
  1. primarily 1 table T10k with rebuys
  2. flexibility for other stacks: T5k (2 tables mixed stacks?), 1 table deepstacked at T20k+
BREAKDOWN (400pcs)
T25 x 80
T100 x 80
T500 x 80
T1000 x 110
T5000 x 50

10T10k8/8/4/7/xx/x/4/3/1 (up to 10)T1k x 10
T5k x 40
Is this enough for color ups?
10T20k8/8/4/7/2x/x/4/3/3 (up to 10)T1k x 10Is this enough for color ups?
Would a STT T20k need a T25k chip?
20T5k10x (8/8/4/2/x)
10x (x/x/4/3/x)
T1k x 5 (up to 12)T5k x 50Mixed starting stacks. Enough for color ups?

With a T25 base, I'd modify the stacks and blind length to suit my need.

8/8/4/7 is the minimum for a 10k tourney but plays poorly - I would only use this if I was trying to spread several tables. I would prefer 12/12/5/6 as a minimum for a single table.

T25 x 120
T100 x 120
T500 x 50
T1000 x 60
For your starting stacks = 350 chips

You'll need 15x T1000 minimum to colour up the T25 and T100 taking you to 365 chips. Add 20x T5k for rebuys and you're at 385 chips. The remaining 15 can be whatever you want - more 1ks if you round up during colour up, more 5ks for more rebuys or a mix of all as spares.

I was thinking about using this

T100
T500
T1,000
T5,000

10/6/6/8 which is 50k starting stacks for a single table 10 person freezeout format

Any feedback on this?

PS. sorry to threadjack.

Personally,

As I build up a couple of my sets...it occurred to me to really get the nice looking high denoms Tourney chips in play, this is what I'd like to experiment with.

I do a T100 based 10/4/7/x as my standard. Works well. It's about the bare minimum where change making isn't a total chore.

I start blinds at 100/100.

Cool so in that case 10/6/6/8 should work ok? Starting blinds at 100/100 is a great idea to lengthen out the play. Do you have a detailed blind schedule you use? 15 min blinds?

I typically do 20min levels myself with 20k or 30k starting stacks, 1 rebuy. Though I could support a 60k freeze not that I'm thinking about it.

100/100
100/200
100/300
200/400
300/600
400/800
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000
3000/6000
4000/8000
6000/12000
Etc.

The 1k/2k, 10k/20k are slowdown levels as they are a smaller increase than the others, but I like it. I also use Big Blind Ante, but the structure is hardly contingent on it.

@Lemonzest @Jeevansluck

Check out this post from @BGinGA, this is what sold me on higher denom base tourneys and the efficiency of a T500 base setup!

That linked post is great. Actually you buying that high denom set is what got me thinking. I love the T100 so I need to include it in my play. I am thinking of also doing

10/8/10/9 which allows for 60k starting stacks and the extra barrel of T500 perfectly allows to color up the T100s.

Personnally, I use the following 400 breakdown for my tournament sets :
T25 : 100
T100 : 100
T500 : 40
T1000 : 100
T5000 : 40
Bounty : 20 (one per player + one re-entry per player)

Up to 8 players : 12/12/5/...
8-9 players : 8/8/4/7/...
