Hi all

First time poster, long time reader!

I currently have a President casino on the admiral secondary poker chip set (identical to the photo attached) I do not have the plaques.

As our home game has grown I am looking to add/create a $1000 poker chip that would fit this set. Likely looking to add 25-50 “1k chips”

As I am very conscious regarding the quality and feel of the set, I want a chip of identical quality, weight and feel.

As far as I have figured out, my chips are leaded 39mm THC mold.

I have been in contact with gearlabels regarding new labels, and labels does not seem to be an issue. But where I am unsure and would really appreciate some help:

1. Do I go 39mm or 43mm 1k chip?
- If I go 43mm I understand leaded could be a problem to find, will this make a big difference “fitting into the set”
2. Regarding general feel, is there anything I should consider looking for a chip that fits in (or does all old leaded Paulson THC-chips feel the “same”?
3. I am really unsure about color and design, any suggestion on color / design to look for to match the rest of the set?

Not about game and set:

My set is about 800 chips (started out as a 1-3 game with smaller denom) total chip value is around 30,000. We now play 5-5 or 10-10 with straddles, where the typical buy in ranges 1000-3000 and value of chips at the table typically gets up to about 50k (today we solve this by playing the $0,5 chip as 1ks.

Please feel free to ask any questions and thank you so much in advance!

This may be a strange option, but CDI98 $500 purple chip may work. The colour and spot pattern is not duplicated on other chips in the series, leaded THC, and relatively easily obtainable at a reasonable price too.

I might even have a couple extra barrels, feel free to PM.

If you do want lead I have this as an option but paid a premium.

$450 for the barrel…

My plan was a $5K chip with them…
Now these are sweet. But I think the edge spot pattern is pretty similar to the edge spot pattern on the PCA $5, an 8V chip may work better from a spot progression standpoint.

@Gorbash has some garden city leaded IHC options in good edge condition. Because your $500 is already blaze most natural 1k options won’t work.
Funny you should mention this because today I decided to keep 2 of my Garden City $1K barrels to relabel as Ambassador $5Ks because I like how they pair with the blaze $1K Ambassador. Still have a few extra GC $1K barrels though.

A purple $1K is a fun option IMO, I considered it for my Kelly's set until @Josh Kifer lost his shit on me when I proposed it, but in terms of feel I think there's purple chip options that feel more like a PCA chip than a fantasy chip feels like a PCA chip. Copa $500 is the first one that comes to mind, but there's other nice feeling purple options out there if he wants to go the non-traditional $1K color route.

I would be afraid the Garden City $1ks are a bit worn to match with minty PCA secondaries, don't you think?

Another alternative would be to look for some plaques to match. There's been several group buys over the years for PCA plaques.

Who the fuck does a purple 1k??!

Very nice! I was initially thinking I wanted a bit more color as I had been looking at variations of blue/yellow, but definitely not completely out of scope. Will get back to you if I change my mind.

Intrigued, don’t think I’m allowed to PM as I’m a new sign up, would you mind PM’ing me a picture?

$450 $400 for the barrel…

Thank you for the suggestion! Not quite convinced on the color match, initially think I’m looking for something with a “little more pop”.

I’m probably a psycho as well, but also immediately liked the thought of a purple/blue chip as part of the set.

Initially thought the same thing, and I also started of thinking plaques, but think I have reverted back to creating a 1k chip, may flip back tho, especially if the original 1k plaques come up for sale.

So THC, leaded, fits in with one of the GOAT sets, murderable, not red, green, pink, white, blaze or black, near mint and with some pop. Easy peasy.
And maybe to clarify, no hard demand on the leaded part. Was more curious if people with more experience feel like combining leaded and unleaded makes a big difference in feel.

Are you making fun of the n00b?
Never.

As an owner of a PCA secondary set as well as both leaded and unleaded sets my opinion is that it makes a difference and there's zero chance I'd want to use an unleaded chip to slot into the PCA set. But that's just me.

Depending on the chip you select and particularly if it's a 43mm chip, maybe you don't notice that much - but it would personally tilt me just knowing.

For me, I'd much rather use a plaque here, there are a few good PCA-specific options that aren't impossible to obtain, won't require murdering chips and you don't need to worry about spot progression and/or color. That's the route I went, albeit I was lucky enough to get my hands on these Matsui plaques.

There was a group buy for some MSK plaques and this member may have some available still: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...he-admiral-pca-msk-plaque-sample-sets.100302/.

There was also a Cards Mold GB and I do own the $50s from that one and they are pretty great.https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/pca-plaques-cards-mold-gb-order-thread-closed.79763/

I'm sure with some effort you could track down some of the $1ks.
