I have had these for a couple of years now and kind of forgot about them. I'm almost certain that they are Christy and Jones....what I don't know is, what year were they produced and whom for or what for. I am hoping that somebody here with more knowledge on C&J chips, will be able to help me with more facts and information on them. As you can see they are in immaculate condition (practically mint) so that's a good thing. Thanks for checking them out and extra thanks to whom can answer some or any of my questions.

Cool -- my wife's initials. But I'd love to know what the stylized right-most character is on those three chips. Not an F, not an H, with those curved lines - ???

Please post here anything you may find out.

And while I have your attention, has anybody seen edge spots covered with some kind of paint like on this $5 chip from the Crown Casino, New Orleans LA? The other chip in the photo had it as well but with a little rubbing and friction the paint came off pretty easy, but not easy to where i could take my thumb nail and scratch it of.... any info on that would be appreciated as well....thank you

I've done some deep looking on the chip guide and also the interwebs but can't find anything really and sadly....I don't remember where I got them. I think it was eBay but if I am right on that....the seller didn't provide any info either.

Weird. I have two racks of Crown Casinos 5;s and they don't have this swipe over the spots on the rolling edge. Maybe it's something that was done after the hot stamp to further mark the chip as "cancelled"?

They are christy and jones...the top hat is deeper and shiny, as is visible in one of the pics. Years were 1955 ish to 1965 ish. They did produce chips for small clubs and individuals, so this may be a tough journey to figure out who ordered them. Best hint is to find out what the chinese (?) symbols say, and hope that it isn't something generic like "good luck".

oh and re the "nail polish" I remember a pic in one of the John Scarne books on gambling that this was a quick way to make common chips your own. Just take a stack of whatever the 1960s equivalent was to dice chips, and run a strip of coloured nail polish down the side. You could spot ringers for sure...and who cared about the chips then.
