Thought I would introduce myself (Mike from Iowa) and give a word of warning to newbies. I joined the site on May 18. At that point I owned 500 dice chips and one deck of Kem arrows. As of yesterday, I own 5,475 chips and 19 decks of various plastic cards. Only about 120 of my chips are Paulsons, and they are just ones I've borrowed from various Vegas casinos. This addiction better have a bell curve, or I'm in trouble.

Welcome! I was born in Des Moines and much of my famliy still lives there. Was just there 2 weeks ago visiting.

Yeah I'm in a similar boat. Have a set of junky ABS plastics, then trying to get china clays to start off and now I'm already thinking about a ceramic set... Just ridiculous

I have you beat (just). Joined May 7th and from 0 to 6042 chips since then.

And my advice - skip the china clays and get ceramics. You can find ceramics here for about the same as CCs.

Wow! Glad to know I'm not alone. This is good validation. Lol. My first full set purchase was a ceramic set that I really like. However, after reading through a few (read: nearly all) past posts, I'm hesitant to mention which one because it is definitely not a group favorite. I have a bunch of random Milanos that I am probably going to sell long-term. but other than those I probably will skip the CCs. I can't get over some of the flaking I see in others' posts, although the Big 3 (Dunes, Pharaohs, and Majestics) do look pretty sweet.

@clapton77, I just realized you are the other DM person in that thread. :)
Ha, yep!

I got a sample of Nile Club chips - I like the design but too many spinners. But you can't beat the price - ceramics for 35c.

I also have a sample of the Tikis and think they're great. My only problem with them is that for a little more (if you're buying >1000 chips) you can go full custom. Full custom is where my head's at right now...

Welcome and good hunting as you collect your perfect set!
