Canceled Grand Victoria (6 Viewers)

Up for auction is a Grand Victoria cash set. The auction is ONLY for 200 x$1, 100 x $5, 60 x $25, 40 x $100. The chips are in excellent condition, but have seen a few games. I can PM more pictures of the chips if needed, though I believe these pictures show condition well.

The winner of the auction will get the option to add the re-labeled frac's for $250 above auction price, the $500's for $120 above auction price, or both the frac's and $500's for $360 above auction price.


RULES

1. STARTING BID: $750USD
2. Bids must be placed in minimum increments of $5
3. The Starting Bid of the auction will be treated as the Reserve Price.
4. All bids are to be placed openly in this thread. No bids via PM/Conversation.
5. Auction will use the '5 minutes after last closing bid rule'. Highest bid at 8pm, Mountain (Calgary, AB time), September 16, 2018 will win unless there is a bid within 5 minutes of closing time - then the closing time will be 5 min. after the latest bid was posted.
6. Edited posts will be voided.
7. I reserve the right to: i) cancel the auction if no bids have been made; ii) edit the listing to correct errors or clarify rules as needed.
8. PCF (it's Owner, Admins, and Moderators) are in no way responsible for any actions in this auction.
9. Shipping Terms: Canada shipping add $30, USA shipping add $40, overseas shipping will be actual cost. Buyer takes all risk once I drop the package at the post office, but I would help where I could with a claim through the postal company.
10. Payment Terms: PayPal F & F, or buyer covers all fees so that I get the auction price in USD in my account

So apparently people are allowed to bid, and then retract their bid later. Seeing as how cancelling an auction after there are bids is not allowed, it would seem that retracting bids also shouldn't be allowed. Somehow this doesn't seem ok to me.

It's late and I should prolly not even post about this as it made me a little hot under the collar.

11 positives and no negatives. I think @Angie99 has proved herself. Something must have come up, it doesn't seem like a matter of buyer's (bidder's) remorse. And the fact that she let you know within 2 hours.. it's not like the dynamics of the transaction changed dramatically because of her retraction.

It's different from a seller pulling an ad with bids. I don't think your analogy is fair.

On a site like eBay when you bid you commit to buy. And the dynamics did change, as it went from sold to not sold.

We are not eBay, you are not paying eBay fees and charges and aren't entitled to eBay protections. And retracted bids still happen in eBay, with much more anonymity.

You still have a full forum of bidders who can bid on your auction, as opposed to when a seller pulls an auction for a unique chipset for which no duplicate probably exists.

Not an ideal situation, for sure, and not one that I want to see happening over and over, but in this circumstance, with this bidder, I guess I'd just move on. But that's me.

I agree. Its not ideal and I understand your frustration, but there was time for someone to come in and bid the reserve price, so nothing was really changed.

I understand, and I will move on. I don’t agree with people retracting bids on an auction because they suddenly have bidders remorse when they see no one else bidding. Unlike you, in this circumstance, I actually had something to lose or gain here.

There was time, but anybody that didn’t want to get in a bidding war may well have signed off instead of following.

I’ll be fine, I didn’t HAVE to sell, but it would have been nice to have these funds for another project. It just rubbed me the wrong way, and if the shoe was on the other foot you may feel the same way
