Hello,

I´m new here and I want to get my first set of chips. I found 3 sets that I liked: Sunfly Valentino, the Ascona and some Euro € Cash Chips with the original money as design.
The € set is 300€ for 500 pieces the others cost around 350-450€ for 500x. I guess and it seems they are all coming from china.
I also looked at Classic Chips but they are way to pricey for me and here in Germany there is not much selection. I also looked up for some used once but the market is empty.
What do you think?

Sunfly makes some nice chips, and you will probably be happy with them. I don't know much about the Euro cash chips. You may also want to check out the group buys for card mold and no mold chips from Tina. If you like ceramics, those are not very expensive, but they take a long time to get. I think there are some euro group buys. And often there are people on this site that will be selling sets of Tinas.

Other options are pricy. Here is a warning, a lot of people get chips like the Sunflys and then they get addicted and want more chips and better chips. I hope that you get your first chip set and you are happy forever, but I will share my experience. I got some metal slugged chips. I love them. they look great and they work great on the poker table. But then I wanted ceramics. I got some custom ceramics from BR Pro Poker. (BR Pro has amazing non-custom chips too). I absolutely love my ceramics and I play with them the most.... but I also wanted some casino chip. I recently bought some chips on one of the The Chip Room sales. They are amazing too. They will get some play, but they are also just a collectors item for me. Long story short, we all start on this page thinking we want an inexpensive entry level set, and most of us end up getting hooked.

One last piece of advice. And I say this to everyone. Don't buy a set based only on pictures. It may take longer to get your set in your hands, but it is worth it to get samples first. See the chips live. Feel the chips. Only then should you buy a set.

Thanks for your reply. The custom ceramics are looking very nice. I was also thinking of doing my own but how did you make the chip design? I´m not that good in Photoshop and Illustrator. I think the ceramics would be my set for everything and I would love to make one custom one but thats it. I maybe would buy some single expensive ones but just for collection for example I like the design of the chip.

Check out any group buy thread and on the first page, they list members that can help you design your own custom chips.

I did it on photoshop. I am not very good at photoshop, but I am pretty happy with my design. The team at BR Pro Poker is very helpful and patient. They helped me get my colors just right and made some minor suggestions on design. They did that at no extra charge (although I did pay for prototype chips of my design to see the colors in person). They also have designers to help if you want to pay for that. And as @4SUMERZ said, there are some great designers on Poker Chip Forum!

Save the money.
Go straight to paulson's.
Get samples first.
Think hard and long which way you wanna go and the hard part, Stick to the plan. I think it is a process.
Taking me over a year and still not totally sure.

Could you throw up pictures side-by-side of your prototypes to see the progression from initial concept to finished product? Would be helpful to some I imagine. They look great, btw. Love your collections you shared a few comments above.

Did you only designed the front or the sides too? Would be really nice if there was a blank template where u can do you stuff, but without it is hard for me ^^

Oh. I could do that.... bit it may take me a little while. I have to dig up all the prototypes and the proof pictures that BR Pro sent.
