This will be an in-thread auction for 100 used Even Stevens $100 chips. Since I don't know what to price them, I'll let the market decide. I will also have Even Stevens $1s for sale in another thread to come.

Details:
  • General bidding will close to new bidders at 12:00 noon Monday November 16th.
  • After general bidding ends, any prior bidders will have 3 hours to decide if they want to beat the highest bid.
  • Bidding to start at $200. Minimum bid increments of $5.

There are a couple of with fairly large nicks (pictured), the rest are in very good used condition.

Better pictures to come.

Shipping from Canada not included. Buyer to pay by Paypal F&F.

  • Auction to end the morning of Monday November 16th.
  • If a bidding war happens, it can go on until all competing bidders drop out.
Please define "bidding war," how bidders will know if it's "happening," and how we will know when all competitors have "dropped out."

If there's still 2 or more bidding the morning of or the night before (and expresses interest in further bidding in A.M. but can't due to work etc.), I will allow a reasonable grace period of a couple hours to get another bid in.

If there's little bidding spread out over the week with a prolonged high bid, then consider the auction over Monday morning.

No offense to you, but I hope no chips that I REALLY want come up for sale via this auction mechanism. I am not a fan.

Yeah, same here. I'm sure the seller means well, but this process is too easily manipulated. I wouldn't touch it with the proverbial ten-foot-pole.

I'm not sure what the issue is (the lack of a set end time?). If I changed the auction to a set time would that fix the problems?

Interested auction-format spectator here. Also piqued in hearing details of the perceived downside of the PCF auction model. Mel, Larry - can you elaborate please?

I'm not sure of the issue either... I occasionally get a vibe here that sellers are frowned upon if they attempt to get top dollar for their chips on site. I'm curious as to opinions on this as well, I've been contemplating putting 10,000+ chips on the market to fund my CPCs without dipping in to my wallet and don't have the faintest idea of the best way to go about it.

I see no problem with this. As stated it doesn't give snipers any advantage. This will result in the final price being fair market value for the most part. There is time for a bidder to respond to the sniper. My two cents.

There is no "problem" with it. I am just not a fan. As a buyer, I prefer to see a price and I can decide yes/no. As a seller, sure, I acknowledge the benefit of the auction format.

FWIW, if I were to list chips in an auction format here, it would have a specified end date/time with the provision that the auction would remain open for exactly 1 hour past the latest posted bid (anti-sniping measure). Any offers via PM would be ignored.

Most of it, IMO. The way it is is somewhat like playing in a certain well-known online poker tournament that takes months. I'd hate to get all caught up in an auction and then not be available for the wind-up -- even though I'm retired, l don't have time for that. Chips aren't worth it (heresy!)

That's one of the nice things about sniping on eBay -- you can set and forget. I have yet to regret a single auction where I've set a snipe and been outbid. It also forces competitors to evaluate their maximum bids based on something other than last-minute emotional weakness " Gee, I only have to bid $5 more than that figure..."

At least with a fixed time, we'd all have the excitement of tuning in during that final hour and watching the carnage!

So discussion aside...

Bid of 40 dollars for one barrel (non gouged) here ;)

What do these 10,000 chips look like??

Lots of posts but no bids yet. 3 days left to go.

OP updated with a set general end time to new bidders and updated rules.
