Hey all, I'm about to host a cash game, never done anything but tournaments before. Players are mostly complete amateurs, and at least to start aren't interested in playing for more than $10 buyin, 5c/10c. I'm hoping we can progress to the 20-50 mark one day. Can anyone recommend me the best numbers and denoms of chips to host such a game? Play will be 8-handed. I would expect we'd see at least 4-6 reloads, maybe more.

Thanks!

You need:
5c, 25c, $1 chips

Starting stacks of $10 either 10x5c 10x25c 7x$1 at a minimum, or 10x5c 14x25c 6x$1, even 15x5c 13x25c 6x$1

"reloads" in $1 chips only

Nothing wrong with a $10 buy in

EDIT:
Bank $500 150x5c 130x25c 160x$1 60x$5

Have Fun

This covers everything.

Thanks, this is great!

So I can't have 25c chips, but I can have 20c.

For a bank I think I have:
175 x 5c,
175 x 20c
125 x $1
25 x $5

So that should probably be fine!

Not sure where you saw $.20 in there... you need nickles, quarters, dollars and five dollar chips to build this set.

Not sure if you have anything in mind yet as Micro sets are hard to find but @BR Pro Poker can definitely hook you up with some sweet reasonably priced semi customs or full custom ceramics if you think that is the game you want to play. Also like many others you can relabel some paulsons ir other chips with Gear labels and make your own inlays for nickles and even the quarters! Good luck and hope the game grows into what you want it to be!

After the first hour it should play like a $.25/$.50 game, another option is run the $.25/$.50 and only allow $20 buy ins once it grows a bit... gotta get gambling in their heads and puts them t ok dig a little deeper! Once they scoop a few $20 pots they will be more willing to start with $20 stacks!

Hey, right I know quarters would be ideal, what I meant is that I only have 20c chips for now. I'll try to get some quarters in future but hopefully 20c can be a close enough variation that the game and stacks run similarly to what was suggested. If it gets to be a regular thing I can invest more into the set.

Ohh sorry about that absolutely you could use a $.20 chip just need a 5:4 ration on the numbers above. Any pics? Would love to see a $.20 chip!

in my 5¢/10¢ game, I’ve found that 100 nickels is more than enough. After the flop, almost all bets are made with quarters. 8-handed, I’d do 60 or 80 nickels, tops. Of course, your group may do more limping and small bets, so 100 nickels may be useful.
