Finally touched a Paulson. Start to singles insanity? (2 Viewers)

The struggle was real.

Until today I'd never held a Paulson chip, living in the land of plastic (Australia). Tried a few times buying singles on PCF, but got stymied by Conus Only, and also the insanity of reshipping service costs. US$35 to ship a few chips, bleuch!
But managed to find a batch locally, though was a 5 hour drive.

Am staring back and forth between my CPCs and these Paulsons, still trying to work out which I prefer. CPCs seem to have a better feel but Paulson colours are sweet. Regardless, the many small differences in molds are fascinating as are some subtle differences in details of inlays or the two hotstamps (with and without Paulson logo).

Definitely not a fan of the ceramics (who makes them?). Those have a weird feel. Seems to lack soul like that one plastic TI.

Mrs drdr is pretty pissed about the purchase. Not joking either. If I've caught a bug it's going to be rough.

Have you met my friend Ken @kk405 ... no exaggeration, this guy has the exact remedy for your illness sir!

I consulted the doctor myself and am well on my way to being fully cured they tell me!

On a serious note... those of us in the States do have it good when it comes to shipping and the majority of the chips in the hobby within reach of out (great??) Postal service. It's not like over there where it takes tons of money and weeks for packages to arrive... some here buy chips just to check them.out, list them and on their way to the next guy tomorrow!

Good luck with the sickness... it sounds as though you have already "caught the bug" @drdr ... unfortunately the truth is that there is simply no known true cure other than buying more chips! Good luck and may the good lord lend mercy, forgiveness and patience to poor Mrs. Drdr's heart!

Australians do know how to get rid of bugs. Pretty big ones even. It comes with living there, I believe.

Hey I'm real sorry about this if you're serious. We joke about being addicted to purchasing chips but pump the brakes for a while, these are just toys and certainly not worth losing a family over. Back out and get some cheap ceramics or something?

If she got that upset about a handful of singles, it's not looking good. Probably hiding purchases is not the answer here either, once she finds them.

Either find another hobby, or, once she's fully cooled down, have a calm talk with her about why you like it and budget/expectations.

If the kids like the chips and want to stick around cool... otherwise they can all go!

I'll be damned if anyone person is going to tell me how to spend my well earned money! And yes I WAS married, yes I understand BIG purchases need to be discussed on a shared income... but damn what did that pile cost $60?

Woman get your butt in the kitchen and make some sammiches, did you get that mysterious brown stain out if my underwear you have been working on for a week??? Exactly! You have a ton of other things you ought to be worried about, not these couple little poker chips. You're botherin me... go on so I can contemplate with my internet buddies in the US on what to buy next!

I doubt this will help, Paulson will hold the resale value easier than CPCs.

Once you get them in country they will be easy to resale though the market is small
 
@drdr Just to be clear was it the 5 hour drive, the money, or the actual chips than made her mad? All three? I know, it was that most of those are rhc chips and she though she married a thc type guy. It's fine tell her the rhc's mean nothing to you it was a momentary laps of judgment and it will never happen again.

Was she angry about the sudden five-hour trip, or the cost of the chips? (I would think the gas money would exceed the lot price.) Seems like there must be more to this story. :unsure:
