FDLmold: Rat Rod mixed .25/.25 and up leaded THC poker set (1 Viewer)

4 quarters each of 25 different chips? Not sure what would make the most sense with the 50c.
I put a limit of 20 each of the fracs. As I acquire more, I'll divest some, hopefully down to 10.

I've got a limit of 10 on the ones, and 5 on the fives.

All $25 chips are unique.

What I do when I get new chips:

I loooooove the Tulalip chips, so heavy for an inlaid chip, and they are dirt cheap. Cliff Castles are also quite cheap. One at a time I've got them, and I'm almost to a full barrel. The only new chip here to the set is Famous Bonanza. I just need five Colorado $5 chips now, and one's almost a unicorn, so four are gettable.

So when I acquire a chip, I borrow the photo from chipguide, rename it, and put it into my "owned" folder. It looks like this:

This picture is a little funny because it shows there are awesome chips from President casinos in Missouri, Iowa, AND Mississippi. Still need a secondary PCA $5, but that's for a Classified thread, not this one! Happy weekend, my friends.

I added two new-to-the-set fifty cent chips this past week. Which is a lot for that denomination, because there is very little low-hanging fruit left in terms of attainable new yellow 50 cent chips. So I thought I'd share where the rack is.

The yellow 50-cent rack
36 unique chips
133 total chips
Heaviest hot stamp chip: Dubuque Casino Belle @ 12.12g
Heaviest inlaid chip: Kruz Europa @ 11.14g
Lightest hot stamp chip: Cloud's Cal Neva Lodge @ 9.76g
Lightest inlaid chip: Skyway Park Bowl (small denom) @ 9.86g
Favorite chips: I love the cactus on the Fiesta! The McPherson is very classy.
Rack average: 10.997 grams
Cost per chip average: $3.797

Thanks for stopping by and looking!

Despite few updates, I'm constantly working on the set. I recently decided to value hunt for $100 chips that fit, but only if they are joining chips from the same casino that are already in the set. A good example would be that I own these:

So if a good deal came along, I would be happy to acquire this one:

(It should be noted that I do NOT have the Dubuque Casino Belle $100)

So anyway, I did get my first $100 chip for the set today. The price was right. I'm on a path to a barrel of $100s now, no turning back.

(I own, or will own, these, so the chip will fit right in with his brothers and sisters)

Entering some recently acquired chips into my spreadsheet today. I hit a milestone, though I suppose 500 chips is no more or less important than 499. Anyway, unique chip #500 is...

Just a gorgeous chip. The inlay is the same on both sides. It's interesting that the next time Circus Circus ordered these chips, they kept the THC mold and the spot pattern and the colors. They also kept the textured shaped inlay. They changed the text from "Las Vegas, NV" to simply "Las Vegas", they changed the reverse to show the denomination in the picture and there is no clown. They also took the lead out. The chips from the second batch come out 0.50 grams lighter. I had guessed that was true from information I scoured from online, but now that I have one of each chip I verified it for myself.

Here is the chipguide info on the Circus Circus fives. I'm surprised that a 2009 chip from Paulson still had a shaped, textured inlay. I'll bet Circus Circus got grandfathered in or something?

Top chip, 1991, leaded, same both sides.
Bottom chip, 2009, definitely UN-leaded. Still a banger of a chip though.

A surprising member of the "inlaid 11.00g+ club" today. The $5 Empress chips are 9.7g and 10.7g or so, and the other $25 is 10.8. This worn, but rolls on edge, Empress $25 is a hefty one.

I'm biased against a lot of chips and chip types for this set. But NOT against Paulson metal inlays. Two new ones today! The $1 is just in fantastic shape.

I always always always love finishing the singles I want from a casino for this set. Today, I got my first West World $1 chip, so I was able to do this:

And now I've got them all... Sweet!

Okay I don’t know how I missed this thread before this week but I’ve since read through these 2 pages like 3 times.

@FDLmold this set has just latched into my brain and I’m obsessed with the idea.

@louBdub im struggling very hard not to start down the same path and get in your way
