Just wanting to see if anyone else wanted to hop in on this. I am definitely ordering them. I picked the 20,000 denomination for rebuys/bank for those of us that follow the Manzoni Stack Protocol. I know 25,000 is more common but given the extremely limited number of the Faro Dunes chips, it does not seem like that is necessary. A discussion can be had.

This has the blessing of @TheChipVault with the stipulation that it is not for my profit and it will be a very limited run. When it's done it's done. The design is by @p5woody. His cost will be built into the final cost of the plaques, and I will make sure he is made a whole if that number is not very great.

Final cost is TBA, but know that base cost for plaques from @BR Pro Poker is $5/per so it will be some amount greater than that. How payment/shipping would work depends on how many people are involved. Obviously this is a fairly niche operation.

I assume these will be ceramic. If that is your preference, then no need to read further.

But if you also were considering plastic, Tina makes plaques that are similar to MSK, and as of a few years ago, they were dirt cheap. I was going to run an Aria plaque GB, but then lost interest. Here is my thread, with examples of some plaques that were made for PCA St. Louis. Justin may know if current prices are still close to what they were back in 2022. At that time, sizes similar to what you have here were under $2 each.

I would be in for some depending on the make. I am not too keen on the flat ceramic look and feel for plaques, so if you go the BR Poker route, then I will probably pass. If you were to go for a more glossy look like the Tina plaques linked above, then I would be in for some. Just my preferences, but I will keep an eye on this thread and see how it shakes out and decide as the deadline approaches.

Thanks for doing this either way...

This thread is solely for a Tournament plaque (20K or 25K).

I am certain that Chip Vault will not allow any plaques for cash chips they already sell or have sold. I cannot feature them creating their own competition. Part of the appeal for many folks is the sets exclusivity. I realize in the case of the $20 amount that those are not available anymore but see the previous bit. Barrels of $25s and $100s are still on the site! I had said elsewhere that I thought the $25 cash chip would’ve been a perfect T25,000 chip.

As far as the manufacturer for this, I’m strongly leaning towards BRPro and therefore ceramic. This is what was discussed and approved by Jim. I had not thought about doing MSK or Matsui for reasons of cost, complexity, and MOQ. I had not thought about Tina because of concerns about the current economic and shipping climate, and having that particular vendor deal with somebody else’s intellectual property. Personally, I don’t have a problem with Tina. I have thousands of Tina chips, but this is a very specific and special situation.

If there’s a lot of traction here, I can see what is possible but I wanna go with what has been discussed and approved with the design’s owner.

I will say I’ve had BRPro’s ceramic plaques in the past, look for pictures of my Casablanca set, and I really loved them. I know they’re not for everybody but the heft and feel is so much closer to Clay for me and that just works. Again we can keep this discussion going to see how much interest there is in total.

I'm sure your correct wasn't thinking when I posted.

Just due to the exclusivity of the item and the fact that it will round out my Faro tourney set, I will be in for some plaques either way. I do like the feel of BR Pro chips, but just have different preferences for plaques. Either way, I'm in for some. Probably 8-10 of them depending on price.

If anybody has the most recent MOQ and prices from MSK and Matsui, could you chime in here? Just so we can take everything into consideration.

I'm just having a bit of a rethink on this at the moment. You know how everyone here is always "get samples"? I'm always parroting that like anyone then it occurred to me I didn't actually have samples of these plaques. So I ordered some and they've just arrived. I'm glad I did this because I had completely envisioned the size wrong. And me being a fan of the metric system! I had in my mind that the plaques I had made years ago by Sal at OWPS we're done by ABC/BR Pro but maybe I was wrong about that. In any case these plaques are much smaller than what I had envisioned. I think my old ones were either 94mm X 66mm or more likely the 107mm X 75mm (both 5mm thick rather than 3mm). In any case I'm gonna get some samples of those from CPC.

Also, I had been very much desiring art work on the edge, but they can't do it.

I will say I do like the BR Pro and the price is very good. I know the turnaround would be very quick relative to any of the other options out there. The plaque color is going to be somewhere in the brown/red family so this plaque is actually a good stand in.

I still feel a twinge with a so close yet so far with any of the three chips (both bounties and cash $25) below would've been a perfect 20K/25K. Not complaining and I know it must've been a bitch to bring these to market. Just sayin' like

For reference, here's a picture of my old Casablanca plaques. I guess they're about twice as big as the samples I got.

I have heard back from @SUN-FLY Poker Chips. There is no MOQ. Cost of plaques for either the 94mm or 107mm is reasonable ($4.08/$4.32). I will check on any set up costs. Shipping and tariff related fees are the only wildcard now. I've asked for an estimated shipping and will report back.

As he said at the beginning, my preference was for ceramic plaques, but I'm not against acrylic. Though it does not seem that there is quite enough interest to make that viable (MOQ/cost). If anyone has experience with ordering from the acrylic producers and wants to chime in, I'll certainly listen.

Update.

Sunfly has given me a shipping quote (based on 40 plaques) of $60. Tariffs?

Waiting to confirm edge printing.

Edge printing confirmed. They will make up a sample and I will show as soon as I have it (i'm assuming they're just gonna send me a digital image.)

Still waiting on a mock up. I'm figuring costs, with some creative guess work on tariffs, at $7.56/ea. obviously that's before I would ship them on. Wanted to see how much this cools people's ardor.

I did grab a sample of an acrylic plaque from Pokerstore. Not sure if it's Tina or MSK, but it's pretty nice relative to cost.

As an aside, I've been focused on 20K rebuy, any desire for 10K? I've asked back in the Chip Vault thread if everyone is doing T20K

We play a T25 structure and the set caps out at 5k. I think 20k is the way to go. 10k is only double and pretty useless. The cost is getting up there but I still may be down for about 10, depending on final price and final look /quality.

There is not a rush to the gates for this. Given the desire for some for acrylic, which definitely requires overseas production, and the lukewarm acceptance for ceramic by some others I'm wondering if I should just put this to bed till world economics sort themselves out?

I am happy to sort out @p5woody if it makes sense to let this marinate.

Thoughts?
