Facebook find. Need help with ID (1 Viewer)

Hi All.

Marketplace score.

Should have them in hand by Thurs.

Look like they are ceramics based on the way the edge looks but then the (apparent) engraving in the chip itself makes me think they could be plastic.

Any ideas? Thoughts?

Unfortunately, they are entry level plastic chips. Not much value on PCF. You might look on eBay for comparable sold values to answer your question.

Will be a cool set for a buddy that that just wants a set that isn't easily counterfeited for a $1/$2 game a few times a year. Doesn't want to spend much on chips.

Hardly a collector but I have never seen these before in the few years I have been dabbling.

More of a curiosity for me than anything else

Thanks! No intention of posting them, or any others for that matter, for sale here if they aren't up to a certain level quality.

I have too much respect for the quality stuff to even think of it.
 
Your question was "any ideas or thoughts".
I think this is a nice set and a step up from nondenominated Dice Chips. An even bigger step up from Bicycle's Red, White & Blue plastic chips. Are they Casino Chips? No. But for breaking out twice a year they're fine.

Me too, I have 2 ceramic sets (custom set and a Nevada Jacks skulls set) both with similar edges. But I lack the experience to know for sure from a few bad pictures and for the $ it is/was worth the gamble.

I'll find out soon enough when they arrive. Either way, they'll have a good home.

If we are just putting in our best guess I vote ceramic, that "engraving" looks printed on and the rolling edge is a dead giveaway inho. Seems like an old school ceramic highly textured glossy rolling edge.

The labels on these can be easily popped off if I’m not mistaken. Take them off and clean the chip. Then you slap some custom labels on them for your pal. Make the labels say something cool and be 100% custom secure.

“Steve’s Saloon” or something

They’re ceramics! Nothing’s popping off of these!

These were cheap "china clay" before China clay was a thing. This was my 3rd set of chips before I really understood what was going on in the chip world. They are not slugged, and can easily break in half. (I had 2000 of them). they also had a distinct smell
 
These are some of the most gawd-awful cheap plastic chips to ever make it out of China.

Perhaps the worst 'feature' is the gold 'paint' in the debossed mold areas that will transfer to your hands, felt, case, clothing, and other chips. I wouldn't wish these on my worst enemy.

They are horribly nasty.
