Found Empress Cash Set (1 Viewer)

Looking for info on main cash set.
I want to see how hard and how much a small Empress cash set (not empress star) would be something for a .25/50 or .50/1 set.
100- Snappers
200- 1s (Temporaries Found, thanks @Gorbash) keeping up for original 1s.
100/200- 5s (Found, thanks @Jhoov2412)
Maybe 80- 25s (Found, thanks @soccerdadof3)
Maybe 20- 100s(Found, thanks @rustycheerio)

Used will be much easier to find, however 1s will be quite difficult. It literally took me 3 years to build this out and I just finished by completing my last rack of 1s. You could always have better luck than me, in fact you probably will. There are no fracs from this casino and I use the snappers ($2.50) as quarters. I'm not sure how familiar you are with these chips but there are primary and secondaries, both used, some EX to mint. I kind of have some of everything. There are also these, a little mix of secondary on the left and primary on the right, minus the 1's.

Top is primary, bottom is secondary. Useful if you want to specify what you want to go after.

@buffalojim gave you a great summary.

Most of the collectors have the market cornered on those chips in good condition. The most frustrating thing I encountered in building my set was the 2 different versions of almost every primary and secondary denom.

Example: there are 9g and 11g versions of the secondary $25. Same for the secondary $5. The 11g version is cherry red and the 9g is darker red.

The $1s are damn near impossible to find in quantity.

I sold my leftover racks of dark red sec $5 a few months ago.

Secondary $25s are more available than primary. There was a rack listed for sale recently but I’m not sure if that’s 11g or 9g version.

There are currently 2 barrels of the secondary $100 available- LCV version. EJ hundos in general are not commonly available. $500 and $1000s are very difficult to find today.

There’s an Empress Joliet thread around here where you can see some of the sets much larger than mine that were built years ago. I feel EJ owners in general aren’t particularly keen to let any of them go though as they would likely not be able to reacquire them in the current market.

Summary: a complete set for sale is highly unlikely today. You may have to offer a lot. You could slowly build one up but there will be challenges. And I may have soaked up a lot of the $5s that popped up in the last year…

My only set of leaded THC.

Rereading your OP I think a PCA primary set would meet your needs pretty easily. One pops up every few months around here. Used fracs, primary even secondary $1s, primary $5s and $25s. All very affordable relatively speaking.

You just need to stay away from the secondary $5, $25, and $100.

Dam you guys worked hard to get those sets lol wish I had joined earlier to snag some lol. I might go the PCA or MS route then, I just want some cheaper end thc maybe rhc, but not solids.

I have no idea where pricing is these days. For secondary 1s you could be looking upwards of $5 per easily I'd say. For primary 5s anywhere from $250 to $350 per rack, depending if they're clean and sorted, same for the 25s. Because I'm a bit OCD I've gone through many racks of these chips sorting for the same condition, color, mold, weight. @DirtyTIVA touched on the subject but there are several variations of each denom, it's really quite interesting. Almost all of these chips were dirty as hell, I mean really filthy, years of hooker juice and who knows what the hell else. All of that plays a factor in my book. Here's some of the good stuff in EX condition, for the most part, just teasing at this point lol

I think the real problem here is that these come available rarely in racks and practically never in sets. These are grail sets for most owners... I'm not letting mine loose any time soon. That being said, if you were to be persistent, like @buffalojim its still doable... just will take at least a year or two.... but they're definitely worth the effort! I say GO FOR IT, you CAN DO IT!

Never followed through to make a playable set back when Jim had lots of them at reasonable prices.. lol..will probably just list them soon and pass them on to someone who can get them in a set and on the felt..

Some people have made some pretty awesome relabel Empress Fracs. Ones are hard to find in quantity, but Snappers are damn near impossible.
