Do you try to crush cash games or generally play ABC poker or sort of on cruise control?

Basically what Craig said. In the smaller $.25/50 and small $.5/1 games we play I basically try to see every flop as cheaply as possible unless I have a premium and then shovel money in haha. In our deepstack $1/1 and above games I play a little more solid LAG.

My game is for the most part quite tight and usually 5-7 handed. There's sometimes a small uproar and snickering from the peanut gallery if I raise pre-flop or three bet. I sometimes play an absurd range just to mess with everyone else because I can usually see the flop so cheaply. Sometimes I get lucky, other times I just get out of dodge when I know I'm beat. The community can keep my 1BB in my 100BB game to see the flop with Q8 off, for example.

That being said, I host quite frequently and want to keep the game going. People aren't going to want to come back if I bust everyone for a buy in or two each on a nightly basis. My winnings are modest usually (1.5- 2x my buy in, but I have some monster payouts on occasion). I've been on an absurd run this year. Only busted out of one cash game all year out of 8 or 9 games. Ended the night in the black for all the others.

No, no, no.

Always Be Chipping.
Can someone update this?

I often share knowledge and strategy lessons from the books I 've read with my fellow players / friends.
I 'm not there to crush the game (even if I could; that would probably kill the game), but rather to enjoy a competitive yet friendly game.
Just want to see nice poker being played, and plenty of clay colors on the felt:)

I find it really difficult to try to not compete. I like healthy competition and since I don't play sports anymore poker is all I get. I might not be putting forth 110% every game but i do try to win every time.

"Second place is just first loser."
"If it's only about having fun, I have more fun when I win."

I try to play my best at all times. In some rare cases I might ham it up and try to bluff my opponents with their favorite trash hand. But I'm not a big drinker, so I have very little stopping me from playing my A game at all times.

Tournaments with our group is very competitive, especially since we have the same group of guys that happen to always be in the top 5 mix. However I feel with cash games its more relaxed. Grab a beer, smoke a cigar, chill and have a good time. Dont be money driven.

It’s not enough to win all the chips. I must also crush their spirits.

Just kidding obviously. I’d like to pretend I have the power to dial up or down my skills. In reality I am a break even cash player with most of wins coming at other people’s home games. I usually lose at my own game for some reason. Possibly related to drinking.

I play a lot looser than I would in a casino game and put myself in tougher situations for the sake of the challenge. But other than that, I’m competitive and I will try and play my best and win as much as possible.

I couldn’t bring myself to donk off money to ”be nice” or something

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm gonna open up my game and see how it goes. I kind of have an image as a rock so I want to start 3betting a lot.

I play to win all the time! Even in pots with my own mother, I'm trying to get the money I'm rightfully owed because of all the times I was stiffed on Christmas gifts. How does one ask for a Sega Genesis and get a Mr. Perfect WWF action figure! :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO: (kidding).
