Having a two table tourney next weekend, with 18-20 committed. Going to allow max 2 rebuys. I am thinking I don’t have enough chips or at least enough lower denomination.

$25 - 144
$100 - 194
$500 - 82
$1000 - 100
$5000 - 40

Total Value 364,000

Divided out into 60 buy in’s would put me at 6,000 starting stack. I am 98.7% sure everyone won’t be double rebuying.

Anyone have suggestions for starting stacks and rebuy stacks? I think I can get some more 5000s if needed.

My min would be 8/8/4/2 starting stacks... a T4525 would tilt me something shocking, although nothing technically wrong with it.

Running out if chips for rebuys I always equate to running out of booze when hosting a party, cardinal sin...

Did some fun math with the chip counts you have posted. To be certain that you will have adequate chips for coloring up without having to make change (assuming you race off chips), I would suggest:

8 x 8 / 8 / 4 / 3 (23 chips)
8 x 8 / 8 / 2 / 4 (22 chips)
2 x 4 /14/ 1 / 4 (23 chips)
2 x 4 / 9 / 8 / 1 (22 chips)

This will leave:
16 x 100 for coloring up 25s (there will be 4 unused 100s)
16 x 500 for coloring up 100s
10 x 1000 for coloring up 500s (if you plan on coloring up 500s)

This will be enough for a 2-table tourney as long as you always have someone at the table buy up the chips to be colored up.

24 (or 34) x 1000 for re-buys (to be given with the 5000s).

I do believe this is the best way to give out the chips. If you do have less than the full 20, just rob from the stacks lower on the list, or use those stacks as your first re-buys.

You have a good amount for 18 players and 8/8/4/3 stacks for T6000. Whatever starting stack you choose you really need a few more (16 to be exact) T25s to accommodate 20 starting stacks. 8 really should be the bare minimum.

I would just set aside one T1000 chip per player to accommodate color ups, and use the rest of the T1000 and the T5000 chips to issue rebuys.

But 20 players just doesn't fit without issuing starting stacks without T25 as @ruskba said.

And just to make sure it’s understood: you’ll have no problems having two stacks without 25s.

And regarding color ups: don’t color up using chips that will later be colored up. So don’t color 25s with 100s since 100s will come off later. Have a big stack buy all of the chips about to be colored up and give them a big chip.

This. And this.

I’d trim invite list to 18 if you can, then you’ve got a solid 8/8/4/3

If set on 20 people, less than 8 per average, is not good so try to minimize number of levels which require the 25

Haven’t got 20 committed yet so i think I’ll be ok. I have some 1000 chips from another set if I get desperate.

That's probably good in case you have a run on rebuys.

But the issues with your set are on the lower end because you can only provide 8 T25 chips for 18 stacks. Meaning to accommodate 20 or more you have more players you have to do at least a few 0/10/4/3 or 4/9/4/3 stacks. I'm not in the camp that would recommend this.

Eight is considered tight but playable. Any less means a lot of change making slowing down the blinds. (Though experienced players would help in this regard.)

If you have a way to beg/borrow/steal an extra barrel of T25s I would do that. You are already compensating for a lack of T1000 chips by using a T6K starting stack.
