DNegs Advocating for Card Protector Ban in Live Games (1 Viewer)

3 is bananas. I understand that its annoying when players leave a single chip behind and it must be frustrating to accidently call instead of "all-in", but 90% is a silly threshold. Maybe "when betting an amount 90% or greater, all remaining chips have to be clearly visible to the entire table" or something.

I can see 4 being implemented. Technology is getting better and better, I'm gonna allow card protectors at my nickel/dime game but fine with WSOP keeping the table clear.

First two would advantage the best players... him. Rec players disadvantaged.
I know what you mean, but he's advocated in the past against the GTO-robots. He's always been the most talkative at the table and has warned that if poker gets too boring (sunglasses/hood/stalling) we'll lose rec players. But I don't know, sunglasses are way less popular these days; maybe more worry about card marking/cameras? Don't know.

#3 is kind of ridiculous and I'm surprised he would even suggest that. they need some rules/procedures in place for the "leave one chip behind bet" but definitely not that one.

If anybody wants to kill 20 minutes, he just released this video on his thoughts about the problems with players leaving 1 chip behind. He acknowledges that he doesn't have a great solution, including the 90% rule.

And down with card protectors! I love it. People should leave their favorite chips and lucky charms and random toys in their pocket where they belong! You always have a stack of casino issued card protectors right in front of you - use those and get your junk off the table.

yeah. i saw this. #3 is kind of ridiculous and I'm surprised he would even suggest that. they need some rules/procedures in place for the "leave one chip behind bet" but definitely not that one. And no clue what #4 is trying to accomplish??? 1 and 2 are a lot more reasonable.
I think its to prevent shinners

Poker rule changes I would vote for:

1. No face covering of any sort.

2. No Sunglasses.

3. If a player bets 90% or more of their stack, it is an all in.

4. No card protectors allowed on the table.
I have no issue with #1 & #2 but I think this is only to benefit the Pro more than the Rec which is why DNegs vote for these changes

Also, I like to point out #2 is that the last time DNegs manage to win a WSOP title (he had his "lucky" shade on) so it might harm him more than not.

#3 is just dumb, you can't restrict the bet size

#4 is also just as dumb, there's way more better solutions to prevent hidden camera

And let's be frank, DNegs is a Legend but he been a Losing Tourney player for years so he prob getting more and more frustration from playing Tourney if things didnt go his way. Plus we know he sometimes gets way too comfort with the camera and talk nonsense.

We love poker chips here. Bringing a couple of our favorite chips to a game to use as card protectors lets us expand the joy of our hobby! It also helps justify the expense as we are “using” the chips.

No sunglasses? No problem, regular ones with fotochrome lenses....Good luck reading me Daniel..

Personaly I think these are midlife crisis signs...

idk, I think he makes a lot of very compelling points

#5: No shuffling your chips or otherwise making obnoxious noises"

I love shuffling chips. I love the sound of chips being shuffled. I prefer it when the entire table is shuffling! It was seriously one of the things I missed most about the poker experience early on with covid when we couldn't play.

I was going to say the same thing!

Oh he does.
No doubt he’s a quirky guy who loves to hear his own voice. But he’s also a smart guy who knows what’s good for poker. He’s in his fourth decade of being deep in the trenches of professional poker. And he can understand the difference between what’s good for Daniel and what’s good for poker in general. I can understand if people don’t love the guy. But when it comes to stuff like this, he’s worth a listen.

(As opposed to my stupid rants about card protectors and lucky charms - those should generally be ignored.)

How often has a chip from your stack been left on your cards when you shove all in?

Are camera a problem anywhere other than seat #1 and #9? Maybe #5? Seems like banning phones would be better if you are worried about cameras.

And the 90% rule isn't a solution. Players will just leave 11% back. It should be on the dealers to manage. Laugh all you want at the All In buttons.

Also, I like to point out #2 is that the last time DNegs manage to win a WSOP title (he had his "lucky" shade on) so it might harm him more than not.
He said sunglasses are necessary at the WSOP final table because the lights are so bright.

I like Daniel, and good on him for getting the conversation going, but these are not solutions.
