This does not even look like the same chip.
Wow very nice.

Since it was only one chip, I just took a scrub brush to it with mild detergent and warm water. I wouldn't want to do a few hundred this way, though. Or a few thousand.

When I was building my Aztar set, I had to clean over 3000 chips by hand. 2min bath in a bowl of water with dish soap (Dawn or Palmolive), soft toothbrush clean, rinse in fresh water bowl, dry... let sit 24 hrs (12 on each side) on a paper towel, then mineral oil. Here's a before/after cleaning pic

I will post some pictures of the MGM National Harbor chips I cleaned.
I rifled through 3000 chips to get 2 racks with no flea bites(RHC mold) and they are only about 3 years old.
The biggest issue with them regarding dirt is they have a decent sized poker room and you can eat food.
Lots of french fry grease I guess.

Do casinos actually clean chips? Is there a industrial type chip cleaner made for that market?

Even though I’m close to AC with several choices, I play mostly at Borgata for many reasons....one of which is cleanliness. Of the casino and of the chips. They are the only casino that never seems to have filthy chips.

There are several commercial chip cleaners on the market -- some of the automated ones run upwards of $20,000.

Interesting. I would have thought the machines accepted far larger volumes.

Well no matter what it cost, if I was a casino manger there is no way I would allow chips to get like that. Borgata was the first casino I was in that had chips other than clay. Knowing that my ASMs were getting tacky I assumed the choice was made in part because they would be easier and more tolerant to cleaning.


What a turn off. Casinos with dirty chips usually have dirty carpets, bathrooms, etc. But I guess degenerate gamblers don’t care.

I've had good luck with a disposable electric toothbrush in the past - less effort than a regular toothbrush to get gunk out of the nooks and crannies, only costs about $5-6, and you just toss it when you're done. You could also use a non-disposable one with replaceable heads.

Has anyone used oxi clean to clean newer Paulsons? I've used oxi clean on older leaded chips with great success but just wanted to check.
