Defeated (2 Viewers)

Anyone else feel defeated by chip prices? I get it.. supply and demand I totally embrace it. But dang that sting when you know you’re gonna spend a bunch of money on poker chips. I guess I can appreciate the the amount that most chip vendors will retain value (when it comes to the top tier). I can also understand that it’s similar to an investment. Im just beginning this journey on building a poker set and I’m not gonna settle for less when I know what I’ll be happy with. Just a rant I guess. Wonder if there will ever be relief in sight over the next 10 years? What’s yalls take?
What chips do you expect you’ll be happy with? Because as most on here can attest, that will change over time

im actually torn between making a custom cash set through cpc or over the next year trying to acquire either live or closed casino paulsons. A year ago I would have said get BRpro ceramic semi-customs but that was cause I wanted to stay cheaper. But Ive talked myself into just trying to go big on the first set so I would just be happy with what I have (whether that holds up or not i have no clue). As far as casino chips go-- i have an idea-- but not solidified. As far as cpc goes--- i think all my designs are mediocre at best and i constantly change them-- I have some paulson samples, some brpro, some cpc chip samples purchased (hopefully shipping soon). Im in limbo and need to just make a choice.

I’d wait on customs if you’re not completely happy with your current design. You could always post the design here and ask for feedback.

What’s your idea on the “casino chips” side? Costs will depend on a lot of factors, and fracs in cash sets and high denominations in tournament sets tend to go for a lot more due to scarcity.

You can always just "borrow" Paulsons. Unless the market completely tanks suddenly, you can usually get back what you paid for them whenever you're ready to sell. I think this is a great option for anyone who thinks they will eventually get a set of customs but is struggling with the design choices (which can take a long time land on an idea that you love).

Live 1s , secondary 5s, no value for .25 or relabel (only would need 100) and secondary’s for 20 or 25’s

Not sure I know what you mean here. Are you talking about a specific casino or different pieces to a mixed set? I’m a big fan of mixed sets, and have no problem using NCVs or roulettes as fracs, but you might feel differently.

I’m confused by you saying secondary $5s / $20, without mentioning a specific casino.

Mixed set. NCV for fracs and I might have the terminology wrong but closed casino 5’s and 25’s or possibly biting the bullet and getting a barrel of live 20s from like aria. Set up would be either a 500 or 600 pc cash set. .25/.50 blinds 8 ish person table

Here’s my 6-max travel set I pieced together a rack at a time. Similar to your plan, but mine is intentionally mixed molds:
