Is there any specific reason why Tahoe Pitch & Roll couldn’t be dealt like a more traditional 7 card stud game when it comes to 4th-7th street given it’s a 7 card stud variant?

Why do 4th street and 5th street need to be combined and eliminate a round of betting?

Just wondering if I’m missing something obvious.

You absolutely can, when I was explained it I misunderstood. It is just a long game. Combining the round speeds things up. When I played the table was really small so it was fine to do them as separate streets. Most people are calling on the first street anyway because how the game is setup, so it can speed that along as well

It’s a great game. I keep trying to put on a limit night with TPR, Chicago, 5 card etc but it’s hard to get players

Why does it change for pot limit?

It is hard to find a steady 7O8 game, and its hard to find a limit game. We had one end about 6 months ago, it went for about a year.

Traditionally you're trying to win about 1 to 2 bets per hand, played properly its a very grindy game. I played often and I know how to play it well, not that I always do, but when played Pot Limit, I'd likely be better than the average player, and its typically easy (especially if I'm catching cards) to bust players.

At one of the meetups, I was stuck, we played a round of TP&R and I was able to get a head; I was catching cards and getting called. The next time we played that game they changed it to TP&R with the last card up (easier to see if you're likely beat)

If you don't typically play 7stud 8 or better, you're playing for the low, and when you land 123 or 3 cards under 5 suited, you pound it, pot pot pot till the cows come home. You'll have people chasing straights and flushes, or unable to drop 2 pair, and when you land a 6 low strait or flush and scoop a pot its a blast!

To me this is an unintentional oxymoron. In the vast majority of 'pot limit' games I have played, the pot sizes themselves have been anything but controlled. Once three consecutive 'pot' bets have been declared they get HUGE (even at 0.25/0.50).
