Would there be interest if we started or had a database of dealers available for home games? Or is that going a bit overboard?

Hmmmm... Personally, I have no need for it. I used to deal our weekly exclusively with relief from my banker when I needed it. About three or four sessions ago I made the trip to Gen Pop and placed my Banker on the Dealer Box and promoted someone to the bankers drawer. I haven't been back to full time dealing since. We do not do a pass the deck game. Very much dislike having players deal from the corners etc, etc. Aside from raking the game, I don't know how one would expect to pay dealers. Gratuities at The Godfather Club are expected and cover the Hot Dogs, Sloppy Joes, Candy, Dunkin Donuts, Potato Chips, 6 different varieties of soda, and water... I comp players the 5-6 hours of prep I put into the game each week.

Dealers? We don't need no stinking dealers...

Whoever has the dealer chip in our game usually deals ! Unless someone wants to take it amongst themselves and deal the game which does happen sometimes especially if we want the game to go quicker and smoother

Designated dealer amongst those at the table that actually know how and can deal or payed professional dealer is a bliss. In my local games usually everybody deals when at the button. That causes a lots of delays and miss deal cards. Personally I absolutely hate that.

I agree. At my games, my guests don't like dealing and so I get stuck doing it. I think it causes me to lose focus a bit.

Note that would involve someones personal data like phone number and name...Risky

I am from Europe so have no interest but think you need to balance that risk carefuly

thanks for your advice. I agree to that as well.

I have a friend who doesnt like to play but knows the game and we like to have him hang out i usually collect a seat fee of around £2 per player so this pays for his taxi to and from my house and i usually chuck him a couple of beers and is for the most part happy to deal all night. Hes a competent dealer and he keeps the game going, reminds action for the most part gets the winning hand correct last week he dealt from 8pm till 4am so i reckon i got a good deal going with him.

Edit: he also gets tips so usually comes out with another 10- 20 quid on the night

I think that's a pretty great idea! I've floated that idea and that's what we'll probably do!

Way too risky. Just find a good dealer at a local game and ask them for their digits. They will also know other excellent dealers.
I know quite a few incredible dealers in the SoCal area if anyone needs one.
