CY2020 HOF Stump Thread (2 Viewers)

I dont know about far superior, they're both Hall of Fame worthy in my book. There have been other sets brought up in this and past years that imo were far inferior to other sets, but somehow I managed to avoid saying so:tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup::tup:

Bump, there must be some more sets people want to stump for

Sure. And they were all person-to-person private sales, i.e., not purchased publicly from a manufacturer or distributor.
not really. When I bought my BTPs (I was part of the group buy/not a group buy) I never dealt with the manufacturer at all, I dealt with other people in the Griup Buy who organized it. There was one person dealing with the manufacturer who then organized and distributed the chips to the rest of the group. I would guess that the boat chips were handles the same way, with one or two people dealing directly with the manufacturer and then distributing the chips out amongst the members of the group buy.

I know that since I’m new that my opinion probably doesn’t carry much weight, but this set is incredible!

I think they were nominated by the original HOF committee last year, then that committee was disbanded and the new committee rescinded the nomination, so it was never up for vote. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

not exactly. The original committee handed nothing to the replacement group. They started from scratch.

Aren’t these already a HOF set? We’re they just up in a previous year and didn’t make it?

Eesh, I’d reorganize my top 3 to get these in. I mean, I already have a sample that’ll be going in my HOF sample display...

Its a nice set. No offense to Bill. I don't personally think its a HOF set. I mean, there isn't even a fucking sunset on them?

Lol jeez, some hard critics out here!

Calvarys, SpeakECs, Harlequins, Jokers, Motswaris, Club Hel, Paradise LA, Nirvana Lounge in addition to the sexy Hause of Bluff, and that's only about half of what's listed! I'd imagine it's probably a difficult and rather thankless job handling things like this, but I'm glad that we have it.

@inca911, any chance we can update OP to include a link to the HoF rules and such, just to refer to during stumping?

it's definitely in my hof. funny how different sets touch people in different ways really
I feel like that's the best part! I look forward to when I have every custom sample in hand and do my top 100 rundown :)

We're not even seeing the good pr0n. Idk, I look at the picture below, and I'd want them in at some point. But I get it, a lot of people don't want to water down the HoF and really only want top top sets, not just good CPC custom orders.

I think I'd probably still push for these. I enjoy the spots and colors, personally over blue $1s at the moment, but they work (and this was years ago). Like several other people have done, solid use of the B mold. I think the design is pretty fantastic, both sides very clearly dictate the theme and the denom, and I really enjoy the crab peeking along the bottom, it's fun/funny/entertaining. Of course it has that personal touch, which I really enjoy (sunsets, motswari are great examples of that). But a lot of sets do all that, does this one still get in?

I say yes, because this is one of the ONLY customs I see that crosses all the checkboxes, and also has poker involved. Very rarely do we see a set that has some actual nod to poker or a poker term. And of course it has to actually work like this one does.

The only thing missing is people understanding the chip because there was no real reveal like some of the others, just a hey I got them in! (or I missed that thread).

@Chippy McChiperson @kirchhausen Can I assume the "Haus" of bluff is a nod to German heritage?

Love and agree with everything in this post other than "watering down" anything

I just meant if someone felt that these didn't quite get "there". Just thought I'd stump and give the reasoning behind why I thought these belong somewhere up at the top of customs that have been done and are sitting outside the HoF.

this is why i think the HOF is just kinda a silly idea honestly. it is SO subjective and honestly not very important.

If someone were to compare and hyperbolically say, "well, you must not agree with pro sports HOFs either then." I would disagree with that and say that it literally their life's work. This is a hobby

ultimately doesn't matter what i think too. I just appreciate the sets I appreciate. HOF means nothing to me haha

Well yeah, the my name is Kirchhausen so it's a play on that and my last name.

And I love plays on words or at least meningful titles. Likely part of why I love the set.

One of my next custom/semi-custom set is likely going to be "Post-Call Poker". Largely inspired by the fact that almost all of when I play is right after work when I'm no longer on call. The name gets 2 added benefits. 1) Alliteration 2) poker terms in "post" and "call"

Edit: "post-call" is a term that most people in the medical field would recognize.
