I previously purchased some Casino Royale plaques made by MSK. I liked them, but some of the colors just seemed off to me, so I wanted to get some new ones with colors closer to the ones from the movie. I'm super happy with how these turned out. I had a hard time using the movie as a reference, plus it was hard to adjust for color grading, so I found a video of someone who had purchased a couple of the original plaques from the movie. For reference, you can see the video here

These are the originals from the movie

Like I mentioned, I'm very happy with how they turned out. After having them for a little while, I did see some things I would still like to change. I found out afterwards that they have a "metallic" printing option for the letters. The plaques from the movie look like they have that metallic printing, so that would have made them look a little more accurate, plus the lettering would pop a little more. Also, I didn't realize they increased the size. It's growing on me though. But this was a fun project. The rep I worked with at MSK was super helpful as well. Great experience overall, so I figured I'd share it with you guys!

So what was it like trying to work with MSK on getting the colors correct? Was it all done through photos? Or did they actually end up sending you some kind of samples that you could look at?

Yeah, I primarily used photos to communicate all the details. He said they use Pantone code or CMYK, so I'm pretty sure they can use any color from those systems. I didn't receive any samples. After I sent all the specs, they did a prototype run and sent me some pictures before producing all of them. I forgot to mention, I was pretty blown away how fast they made it. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was only a few days.
That metallic looks amazing. It helps the color stand out on its own. I noticed the alternative opaque printing is almost transparent to some extent. Looks like we were both doing Casino Royale plaque orders from them around the same time. I promise I wasn't copying you lol!

Technically, I was copying you. I made sure to use a similar colour palette to the B&G plaques used in the movie (I had the unauthorized Matsui versions in hand), but with all original art that also takes inspiration from the original setting in the novel.

Oh that’s really cool. Well they turned out great! Btw, it looks like yours have that colored center on the edges, as opposed to the white edges on mine. Was that a detail you specifically requested?

I thought this was a standard edge detail. I picked colours out of their standard palette that looked like it matched. I'm sure there was no extra charge for that.

hey I'd like to have ones custom made like the ones you have. would you be so kind enough to guide me or specify the details you used to make the order please?

This is GREAT to see. I'll use this to make my plaques, thank you. It looks like the best bet here is to use your color combos with the metallic or foil printing option. I have an email out to them.

I'm doing something similar, and figured out I will definitely not use their metallic gold print as it looks too grainy for my taste (not like gold foil).

Yeah, I'll ask about foil. I agree the graininess isn't great.

Hey @Pungence I've been following this thread for a long time and I've decided I'd like to do something similar. You mention above that there are a few small things you'd like to change. If you were to do it again what would you do differently? You comment that the sizes are slightly larger than the stock ones you got from apache. Do you prefer the larger size? Do you know what the size of the plaques in the actual movie are? Also one observation I have is that your chips appear to have a slightly orange tinge compared to the movie props. Could that just be a result of the lighting? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
