Custom Cards For Home Games? (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone's tried to use custom made decks for home games. I'm fairly new here and a sucker for keeping the theme consistent, and I was thinking of trying to get some custom cards for whatever design my chips will eventually take on. Have any of y'all tried this? How did it work out? Any tips? Would love to see some custom decks too. Thanks.

I've looked into that myself, but most require a minimum amount that one has to order, so it is difficult to order only a few decks.
I would love to order some decks to match my table and chip theme but it is not cost effective due to the MOQ

Wow. That is ridiculously high. Guess it's really only practical for card rooms and casinos to do something like that.

Customized plastic covered card stock can be had individually for approximately $6 per deck. 100% plastic cards customized are typically $30 per deck (1-5 decks) and cheaper as you purchase more.
It depends how badly you want to match your theme with cards, and the type of cards you want.
Google custom 100% playing cards to get hits.
There are many companies that do it in the USA.

Custom plastic cards are very expensive on a per deck basis unless you can afford/have demand for 1000+ at a time.

I have read that some people have had issues with customer service and quality when ordering from Modiano. I have been working with them for the past month on custom cards and they have been helpful and responsive, and MOQ was a bit more reasonable at 400 decks (and I'm doing two colors, 200 each). I should get delivery in 4-6 weeks and will update this if I have any quality issues.

@MrRossKeys got some custom plastic decks for his SUITS themed setup. Go search up his stuff. He went through MPC (makeplayingcards.com I believe) and they allow any number of decks... The less, the higher price of course.

Very interested in how this goes. They're probably desperate for business because of their recent history of printing issues that make the cards marked and easy to pick out due to different variations of colors in the printing process.

Which companies are those? Because the only company making custom plastic cards is MPC, but they're not favorable because their card stock is too stiff.

Right, I know it’s been done on PCF from time to time. But considering how seldom it’s been done, I’ve always assumed that the only available no-moq plastic cards were crap. Otherwise everybody would be doing it.

I considered trying MPC for some custom cards, but I would definitely want to get some samples first. I hadn't heard anything too specific about them but too stiff isn't great. It looks like it's just under $23 a deck which isn't horrible, but not great, especially if they're not on par with fairly good plastic brands.

I know @TonZaga has ordered some custom cards for his Cardinal Club poker room, and, wasn't very happy with the results. Perhaps he can articulate what the issues were. I'm pretty sure it wasn't one of the major card makers, and, my memories of the couple of times we played with them weren't good. The finish had a bright, washed out sheen that made them hard to see clearly. They didn't feel very good either.

I used makeplayingcards.com for our custom sets. I loved that I could design the fronts and back and given their instructions, the designs come out great. However, I went with 100% plastic poker sized cards and for that particular option, they only offer the P10 plastic card stock and 2 finishes (MPC game card finish or glossy). I prefer my cards with a little bit of texture and these had none. They also seem to collect dirt and gunk like I've never seen before which requires cleaning after every session or they'll stick when dealing + jam/gunk up my shuffler.

Well, that settles it. I think I'll get a custom dealer button and swap out my felt for a custom to match my chips in the near future, but I'll stay with non-custom cards.
