Hey all, first time poster here. I have a small set of nevada jacks but when i host a cash game we always end up with cash on the table. These chips are a pain in the butt to get in Canada and cost a bundle to get shipped in from the US. Id like another roll of $25 chips and i think i would be fine. Theres a poker store up here that sells true clay chips, and i always loved those chips as well. Thought of maybe getting a set but they are crazy horse chips, these any good? or should i just stick with my nevada jacks? Thanks in advance

These are essentially Milano chips south of your border. They are China Clay…injection molded plastic.

These are an upgrade from dice chips, but the quality of the Nevada Jacks line is higher.

I bought some Milanos just to play with relabeling. They are a piece of cake to relabel. Search on here under Milano and you will find plenty of information.

That's a marketing ploy. There re no "pure clay" chips. Best case is when you see those words or "official casino weight" you are dealing with substandard chips.

Compression molded clay chips are plastic

The formulas for them are somewhat different, and the process by which they are made varies, but they are all really plastic.

The quality of the chips you mentioned won’t get a lot of praise around here, but I liked them. The feel is nice to shuffle and the lighter weight (around 10g) is a lot more fun to play with over the heavier plastic slugged chips. Mine stack well and sound decent when you splash the pot.

We are also fortunate in the U.S. to have a ton of options. From what I hear, Canada and Europe have a lot of difficulty getting nice chips, and as you described, it’s really pricey.

Are you close to the border? I used to live in Ontario and had things shipped to a warehouse in the US. I’d then drive and bring it across the border myself. Catch the right guard on the right day….

I’m in Ontario too and may consider that option - I’ve also heard there are a couple of companies that do similar, but drive it to you for a fee. Will look into it

I was just going to suggest this. Many places in the states near the border offer mailboxes for Canadians to have things delivered to. I fortunately have a parent with a cottage in the states she frequents so I just ship stuff there for my mom to bring back.

Fwiw, @David Spragg has stated on PCF that CPC's compression-molded chips contain zero plastic.

I used Bluewater Shipping Depot in Fort Gratiot, Michigan. That’s pronounced “Gray-shit”. Easy to setup an account with them. I believe they charge a small fee depending on size if I remember correctly.

The border agents going into Sarnia are good people. Just be honest with them (to a degree). And don’t forget to have some US $$$ to cross the bridge back into CA.
