Agree, would assume we would want guidance on max level spot patterns (potentially by denom/value), inlay shape vs not, and any mold restrictions.

Anonymize the submissions — for the vote, just show the designs, not who created them, until one is chosen.

If I make a design that could win me a set based on popular vote, I'm PM'ing all my cronies to stuff the ballot-box.
Best chance is to have CPC_Mike narrow the field to just 2. The popular kids will still have the edge, but at least votes for the lesser-known designers won't be divided.

If a level playing field is desired I’d make them all use the same software to produce them as well. Some of the professional designers have thousands of dollars of software to manipulate their products with ease, the average guy is still using PowerPoint and MS paint.
Please don’t hate on people that can only afford basic software/freeware or hardware for this kind of thing. It’s just not cool.

The idea is creating a new stock set that will be able to fly off the CPC shelves. Nobody cares if the designer used illustrator or MS paint. Nobody cares if the designer is popular. They want an eye-catching set that will sell.

No I get it. We just have a much broader member base now and some creative people may be limited in their offerings by circumstance beyond their control. Just trying to be inclusive. Not directed at you at all, sorry.

Good design is good design, regardless of the medium.

And as far as limiting the software, that just seems silly to me. I can understand the reasoning behind it, but the flip side to that coin is that now you’re limiting the pro/am designers that have access to those softwares. Agree to disagree, but I’m not buying that one.

Two things for certain:
1) All entries will be submitted via the Poker Chip Design Tool
2) There will be no limitation on what software someone uses to create their inlays. A good design is a good design and will outshine the software used to create it.
I don't know about the other stuff yet but rest assured that I read everything and take everyone's opinion seriously and will do whatever I can to level the playing field. The point of having PCF vote on the entries was to engage the community and use your history and experience to help pick a design that would have the best appeal to enthusiasts. If we can't find a way to make that part of it work fairly then we'll figure out some other way to pick the winner.

Whatever the winning design is, I hope it can be done on a mold that supports both 39 and 44. I've been wanting a mixed sized scroll set for a while.
Would be nice to see new spot/color combos.

...but being a PCF "poll", I 100% expect a bunch of designs leaning on level 4 through level 7 spot patterns that mostly rely on day-glo colors and bright white as a base that mostly look like Hello Kitty hacked up a Rainbow Brite or Strawberry Shortcake hariball onto a chip as the submissions:

...because that's what the masses here want, but are far from what is realistic as a viable stock design.

Here’s my favorite secondary cali set being made… 
and most of the recent HoF stumps were fairly bright cali sets until @Irish came in with the Old Testament stumps. Which are also glorious.
My recommendation that I mentioned before would an overall target price for a standard 0.25/1/5/25/100 600 piece set and that’s it. That’ll at least put a realistic constraint on all maxed out spot levels, but I don’t think they’re be a limit on creativity of colors/dayglo etc.
Don’t think @CPC_Mike wants this, however… if you want to have a few more categories in the competition:
1. Classical Vegas colors (could be the more muted retro tones)
2. Cali colors (unicorn dayglo sprinkles)
3. Tournie set
4. NCV for a limit set
Either way he’ll get a ton of free design suggestions to see. I’m assuming PCF is a considerable part of the custom market and he’ll want a popular design that’ll sell, so no point getting a purist design that wins but doesn’t sell.
My own submission will be Jolly Rogerz. Exact same as @Cratty but with a z so he can’t sue me.

Screw that. Make the cost and viability apart of the contest. Give a price max and nothing else. 3 dollar average or something. Let the people mod however they want. It can be like a gameshow. Bergs can host.

If you do levels and molds, you are cutting off alot. If you do a nice average, it lets nothing be removed past the extremes. But 80% of my sets are actually value 1s and 5s so I can fiddle with 25s and dance with Hundos and 500s in a single rack.
