I received samples from Classic Poker Chips of the Rounders CSQ and I was shocked that I can easily snap these chips in half… Has anyone else tried snapping them by hand? I was again dumbfounded at how little force could be applied before that gave way…

For comparison, I have 10+ year old CC Pharaoh’s from the Chip Room I purchased in Michigan and they are now so brittle that if dropped from 2’ or more they will shatter. Also, even easier to snap into pieces, almost like a potatoe chip.

Anyone else notice this with CPC? Thanks.

I can snap potato chips in half, but for the intended use I still like the product. :p

Yes people can snap many kinds of poker chips in half. The tougher ones may require tools, and people still do it. Doesn’t make any of them inferior for playing poker.

Plastic is harder to snap than clay.... but the general goal isn't to attempt to snap chips....

You're buying clay chips, clay isn't known to be super robust. If you're going to be playing with apes, feel free to buy ceramic/plastic chips that can withstand the madness and are a fraction of the price. Most people like them less but I do like the fact that I'm not worried about damaging any of them, both because of the price point and the material. They become slick or faded before they break/snap.

Definitely will get a CPC set someday, but for the tiny beginner stakes I love my plastics. Sounds like you're testing the wrong parameters.

I wonder if you’ve watched too many hobbyphillic videos. That guy loves to break chips with his hands. I’ve also seen him toss them in the blender and he’s even fired a bullet into at least one. It makes for good YouTube but it doesn’t tell you much about how a chip will perform on the table.

Paulsons that’s I’ve played with at casinos are “un-snapable” by hand. The thought that such an expensive CPC can be snapped while using less than ~25% strength (not trying to humbly brag about strength lol) turns me off completely to CPC. I know I’m in the minority…

i once angrily threw a CPC chip against the wall after a bad beat online and it broke. i haven't done that since, and no more have broken.

i bet if you don't try to break any more in half by hand, no more will break.
In all fairness, they shouldn’t shatter when accidentally dropped either, but they likely - easily will - after 5-10 years after becoming more brittle… Paulsons are 10x plus more durable, yet doesn’t cost nearly 10x more…

Lol. I've snapped so many Paulson's it ain't funny. But Paulson's are a bit softer. CPCs are quite a bit harder. Paulson will bend easier, CPCs will break. But no Paulson is "unsnappable". I got a bucket full of chips parts that can prove that.

With proper care and upkeep, they should never become "brittle". If anything, I would say CPCs are denser and more robust than Paulson chips, not less. Never had any of mine break (or even chip) and a few have been dropped on hard surfaces.

CPCs are way harder than paulsons. In normal use they have fewer flea bytes and bike tiring. I haven’t tested break points because I don’t see that as useful or relevant.

Get two shuffle stacks and play with them for a couple months and see for yourself.

I totally get that. I purchased a gorgeous stained glass window for my living room and easily put my fist through it. You figure if I paid thousands of dollars for it, I wouldn't be able to. I tried to punch through the bus window in the same way and it didn't work. Such an expensive piece being ruined so easily turns me off to most churches.

Not sure I understand the relevance, but it’s hilarious  :ROFLMAO:

I once broke a CPC chip with my penis.

Your initial post talked about CC (China Clay chips) that have gotten more brittle over time.

Then you mention that "they likely - easily will - after 5-10 years ......becoming more brittle". You have ZERO evidence to back up these claims.
I have ASM/CPC chips that were produced in the 90s. (and some from before that, even) They have not become more brittle over time.

And your claim that CPC chips cost nearly 10x more, well, $100 single chips of the Paulson variety would like to have a word with that claim as well.

What is “bike tiring“? I’ve heard that a lot but I can’t picture what it means.
