I'm a few months into what's probably years to compile a Spokane Stockyards Inn / Cattleman's Club playable set, and I just read @Tonysquander s entertaining CDI98 journey (the site isn't letting me link for some reason).

Love to read some inspiration from other folks' stories about finally making a breakthrough on an impossible set - that big local score or cool acquisition that you finally achieved after years.

As a relatively new chipper I don't have one yet; my closest was finally getting my first Vineyard $5 chip as part of a few racks after 8 months of looking, which was pretty dang exciting.

How are you tracking these chips down?

I made zero progress on the Vineyards in the real world - took out an ad in the Fresno paper, called every pawn shop in a 50-mile radius of Fowler, had FB and Craigslist ads, scoured eBay - never found a single $5. It was a longtime wanted ad here on PCF that finally got me there.

Didn't a Vineyards $5 go missing in Ohio?

@AfterTheFact Hotel Nevada set comes to mind.
Not to much to tell on that one, it just took forever to try and get a barrel of $25’s. Then a rack walked into the Las Vegas Chip Convention. I eventually ended up with them. The rest came from Spinettis and a few other chippers.

The best story is @41Pickup on his Tropicana 1st edition set….

I started with 43 Harolds Club NCV chips in April of 2020. By June of 2023 when I made a post about the set I was just under 500 chips. I'm now closing in on 600. There have been a couple purchases of a barrels at a time, but most of these were purchased a chip or a couple at a time.

This isn't a grail set for many people here, but I have enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment from hunting down and building the set slowly over the years.

didn't @kmccormick100 have a set of the Cattleman's Club? Or was it another #kagret sale
I think those might have been a Nevada version. Mine was a hole in the wall casino that was only around for 4 or 5 years in the early 90's here in Spokane. We have a lot of those come and go, so often even locals don't remember them.
