This is the structure for a monthly league that I play in. It is 10-16 players typically, starting at 6pm and ending around midnight or a little after. Unlimited rebuys until the second break.

Starting stack is 1K. Open to any suggestions that will make the game deeper, with a T25 base chip, but last roughly the same amount of time.

Start with 5k stacks. It's not really deeper, but it's a bit smoother in the middle of the tourney. It speeds up after round 10 and should end about the same time (round 13-14ish if you typically last 6-6.5 hours).

Structure Will typically run no longer than 6 hours plus breaks. Stacks aren't any deeper, however -- still 100BB to start (same as 5/10 blinds with T1000) -- although it will play much deeper since the early blind levels don't double.

To get true deeper stacks and retain the same overall time frame, the blind level times would need to be shortened. For example, all of these variations below would run about 6 hours or less (plus breaks):

T25K starting stacks (250 BB)
L1-L4 = 25 minutes
L5-end = 20 minutes

T20K starting stacks (200 BB)
L1-L4 = 30 minutes
L5-end = 20 minutes

T15K starting stacks (150 BB)
L1-end = 25 minutes

And shame on you for suggesting not one but two 100% jumps right off the bat when given an opportunity to improve. May as well just start 'em with 25BB to begin with and call a spade 5K turbo a spade 5K turbo.

Thanks! I think for starters I'll keep the stack depth the same as before, T5K. It is going to be enough of a mind-boggling change for some of these guys to switch to T25. :ROFLMAO:

It's not the size of the stack that matters, it's the number of blinds that are represented.

maybe I can move the starting time up a half hour and start with 25/50 . . . 200BBs.

Yeah, I know. I've always struggled with that first part of a tourney.

When your smallest chip is T25 and your first round is 25/50, there's almost nothing you can do except double it. There's always the option of starting with a 25/25 round which adds more early deep game, but you'll have to shave a round off later (or trim time off all rounds) to stay within OP's time constraints. You could also add a 75/150 round with the same caveat.

I guess for me, if I have to sacrifice smooth increases, I'd rather do it early than mid-tourney - especially since this is a rebuy format, and the big jumps don't hurt quite so badly if players are just planning to aggro it up and rebuy anyway.

I'm also not a fan of my jump from 500/1000 to 800/1600. I like a 600/1200 round in there, but again I chose to live with it rather than decrease round times to shove in an extra round.

yep, yep, typing too fast and pulled the number off the wrong post. T10K for sure. thanks!
Yeah, I probably should have suggested that too. It's what my tourney group does - 10k to start and a prepaid 10k rebuy (so essentially 20k). It seems unintuitive, but quadrupling the starting stack really only extends the tournament by a couple of rounds, since you're really just compensating for the 2x jump in rounds 2 and 3.

Now I'm no expert but what I've found works with my lot is having the 25/50 and 50/100 blinds last 30 minutes and then we do 15 minute blind levels with a 33-50% increase between levels. Although the first blinds jump is 100%, having the level last twice as long evens it out. Usually the starting few orbits are a bit slow as people get back into the swing of things, catching up with buddies, stuffing their faces etc so the longer level blinds works OK. Basically the first hour is a "warm up".

I like T2000 starting stacks with blinds starting at 10/20.
Still 100 BB
Don’t have to double blinds on starting levels
Just add 2 500 chips per player.

10-10-7-2-bounty...
30 chip tubes for the win.

Hey Dave, nevermind. I found your suggested structure where you posted it before. thanks!
