Context on Paulson RHC dislike? (1 Viewer)

Planned obsolescence. RHC wear down and damage faster under 24/7 use in a casino, so require regular (or at least predictable) replacement, which means repeat business.
One of the reasons Porsches are no longer air-cooled.:)

I think there is some exaggeration in what you’re saying. “Moving the box around might damage ...”
Rant commence:

I don't. With a minor strike while in a wernecke box, RHC'S can and do fleabite before ever hitting the table. It happens on chips where the mold wasn't centered on the clay (or vice versa)and the hats have a paper-thin border to the edge on one side of the chip. ( And of course the other hats further on around the chip have a much thicker buffer zone.). Most RHCs are slightly off center(or more) and this centering issue VASTLY weakens one edge of the chips.

....*-AND THEN*-.....you flip the chip over on the other side....and it maybe, probably, is off center too...so more paper thin borders, more fleabites, and in many cases we're doubling the damage ...

You decide to reorganize your boxed mint poker chips, so you reach over, grab a full box and you lift it like 6 inches off the shelf, but you forgot to grip the lid strongly enough and the bottom drops out and it just falls the 6 inches back onto the shelf. NO BIG DEAL, RITE!? As long as they are CPC, bcc, trk or THC, you're fine. But you look down....and the fuckers are Mint RHC'S. OR SHOULD I SAY "WERE MINT!?". That's right...they were....because you just fed'em to the fleas.

Mint Paulsons that basically fleabite on contact.

I agree they look and feel great...but when the edge of the chip gives up the ghost under very little pressure...before ever seeing table time...it pisses me off.

I don’t hold any religious views towards either mold. It really depends on the overall design and inlay size. If you’re using a 1-16” inlay or above, the choice can only be RHC

The biggest thing that bothers me with RHCs is that they’re not leaded THCs with textured inlays. It’s that simple. If I’m going to be spending a buck a chip or more, I’d rather spend more and have the best, than settle for second best.
Just say NO to faux inlays. Third-worst design idea/error in clay chip history (oversize inlays #1, RHC hat image/location #2, glossy inlays #4).

I love my RHC mold set. I see I already posted these on the first page of the thread lol. Oh well, more is better

And I'd argue that those aren't really RHC chips at all, since they don't have glossy inlays. :cool

For me it a matter of value. I'd have to sell off all my mint RHC sets to get one THC set.

My initial gut reaction when I started chipping was that the THC mold was too busy. Since then I realize the practical advantages with the outer ring.

One day I'll look at buying a THC set.
