Cleans, and cleans well. People have been doing it around these parts for years. Use the search tool and type in "ultrasonic chip cleaning."

Perfect starting number of chips for investment in an ultrasonic cleaner.
Of course, you must keep buying hundreds more on a regular basis in order to keep the cleaner useful (and used).

Actually I do have an US cleaner, but I hate standing there like a damn dummy all day cleaning a couple barrels at a time.
