So 24-ish years since I bough my first set of cheap super diamonds, and 18 years since I bough my first Chipcos, I've decided it may be time to upgrade my cash set while also supporting a local (to me) business.

I've been playing with the CPC chip designer for the last couple of weeks and think I've dialed in what I like. Ultimately I'm going to pick what I want, BUT, it never hurts to get some feedback, especially from the multitude of CPC chip owners that have gone through the process before me. Before I lock anything in I'm going to get color samples. I have samples of a few molds and I like the CSQ the best, so it looks like I've got some time to put the order together.

We play mostly $.25/$.25 or $.25/$.50 for NL/PL and $1/$2 for Limit, but I'd like to set to be able to play $.5/$1 and $1/$2 NL as well. Chip breakdowns are completely up in the air as I don't fully have my budget locked down, but it will be at least 600 chips, with the following denominations:
  • .25 this will be 100 chips
  • 1
  • 5
  • 25 thinking maybe 100 chips
  • 100 this will probably be 50 chips. I don't see a need for more than $5000 with my group.
Now to the my current front-runners for my design.

I would like to hear why different size spots on the 25c chips and why not bright white?

The hundo would pop more with DG Pink/Green/Blue rather than the yellow it currently has.

The wider spot was just to add a bit more color to the chip. I had done two 1/4 spots to more closely match the 1s and 5s, but felt it was a bit too plain. My current fracs are white and I wanted to keep the base colors the same to keep consistency. I wanted all of the base colors to be weighted. Final color choices will be selected once I get my samples.

The hundo is probably the one most up in the air. The current design is an homage to the Boston Bruins hockey organization that uses black, gold and white as it's colors.

Appreciate the feedback! Food for thought.

Here's a slightly different progression. It has a lightened peach spot on the 25 that I'm not sure I like, but the muted colors match the rest of the set a bit better. Still, I think having a color that pops is acceptable on a higher denom chip, even if the lower values are more muted.

Two general mockup tips - change the background color (you'd be surprised how much the puke green can throw things off), and display the base/spot colors in your mockups so folks aren't guessing.

Love your choices so far. The 5 you've designed is an all-timer in my book.

This is my little ASM set - I thought it might help you visualize some of the colors. I am new so very limited experience. I was excited to pick this set up but I'm hindsight the breakdown is too frac-heavy for what I need long term - so much so that I bought a few add'l racks of non-denom, solid chips to use in a pinch.

Looking at your set; I want to challenge whether you REALLY need any fracs at all.
Think how much you can open up your budget, or raise your bank with different denomination breakdown. I'm not sure your game would play no-limit up to $1/1 or even $1 single blind, but if I think about my own ideas to invest into a custom set, my design is a simple solid frac and I am groaning about having to pay a 8-10x multiple on the face value of a rack of 25c chips.

Your white/pink chip is a traditional $1 design, I would use that as $1s - this set strikes me as standardized casino colors, white 1 / red 5 / green 25 / black 100.

Of course, my $2 chip matches that blue chip you designed & it is my favorite of my whole set - the blue / yellow is striking & light blue is a classic color for $2s.

You're here on PCF, used chips can be had out there that would serve in the instance you need a rack of fracs to play lower. Next year if you're the king of .25/.50 you can add on the custom fracs & high denom chips. In my opinion, on a custom set I want to start with more racks of fewer denominations - I think that offers more playability for larger games long term.

good luck and I hope you absolutely love your chips!!!

Great feedback! Some of my thoughts.

I'll definitely need fracs, but only a rack of them. My neighborhood game plays .25/.25 and we're not going higher than .25/.50 anytime soon. They're the cheapest chips in the set so I don't mind spending on them.

Blue is also a traditional dollar, especially in Vegas and California. Mine is a direct homage to the Golden Nugget Vegas dollar, which was one of the first casinos I ever played in when I went on my first trip to Vegas. So it has a sentimental element to that.

seems like you're getting it dialed in!! cant wait to see the finished project!!

I did some tweaks to try to get a more logical flow with the spots. I have some sample chips (though haven't gotten the full color sample yet from CPC) and used that to make some slight adjustments to the color palates. The major change was changing the base on the frac from white to grey (which I find to be almost a blueish color actually). Thanks to @krafticus for some sample chips to reference for colors.

Curious as to why you switched the $5 back. I liked the second version with 3D14. I'm a fan of this frac over the white frac with pink.

Best lineup yet. With moving to grey for the frac, I'd consider DG katy perry (peacock) for the fiver over light blue. Also: butterscotch on the hundo....

You've made it! again! added to the NMSH! thread

Maybe try the 5 with 2D14 instead of the 4A14 (but still use the same colors)? Spots feel a little flimsy compared to the 25, especially if the 5 may become your workhorse at 1/2.

Playing around with some breakdowns. Typical game is .25/.25 NLHE at the moment. My old game before I moved was .25/.50. I've only hosted .5/1 once but would like to again (or possibly 1/1 since it's easier to manage). 1/2 is a bit of a pipe dream at this point with the crew I have access to, but it would be nice to cover it just in case. 2/5 is extremely unlikely, but if we ever get there I could always get a rack of black or couple dozen $500 plaques. Never know in 10 years what people will be playing.

Some thoughts: The fracs, dollars and 5s should cover just about any .25/25 or .25/50 game I'll play and the 25s should cover any busy .5/1 or 1/1 game unless I get some real loose folks to show up. So the Hundos unfortunately may never hit the table. I need to find some real degenerate friends. lol

You are not going to get inlays or hot stamps on these chips? Just confirming because the price you have is for plain spotted chips

They'll be inlaid. The prices I put up were for inlayed chips at the spot pattern I was at at the time.

I've been playing around with this set again. Made some big changes, and a few small ones.

I really liked your previous mockup the best. But I keep my edge spots consistent in size...alot of people don't. Going from a 3D14 to a 3V12 just feels weird to me personally. Enjoy the process and every time you are certain you have it 100% locked down...you will find something you will want to change.;)
