Hey party people, I've been lucky enough to win 450 beat up clay diamond mold chips. They feel pretty incredible! They're beat up, warped, hotstamp is bleeding, edges are chipped up...but I really like them, and they're mine.

I've oiled hotstamped chips before and loved how they came out, but these need some more serious care. I'm not sure what the next step is other than scrubbing; I know people offer flattening and milling and stuff, but paying $2 per chip on beat up old chips is out of the question for now. Anyone have any advice, elbow grease remedies for these? They'll never be perfect, I know that, I just want to make them as nice as I can.

Got a bunch of these too; in a past life I think they were the same color.

I think your right, milling these is probably not feasible unless you have specific use/theme for them.

Are you set on keeping them? It feels a little like you are all over the place lately with chipping (which is hard not to do when a good deal comes up. I have done the same exact thing)

If your not set on keeping them, I personally would just try to resell them for like $15-$20 bucks a rack on PCF or something. There may be someone who has a Paulson Diamond project that missed this auction or needs these. Otherwise, I would take these to eBay at a Buy it Now for $30 or so a rack.

Laughing at your all over the place, cause you're 100% right, bouncing around. Im not set on keeping them but Im happy with playing with them and seeing what I can make.

You're right I could definitely just sell them, but I got these cheap at an auction, is that rude? Maybe do both, add in the greens and pinks I have coming, clean them all up then offer them.

Flattening requires heat. Best way is to use a heating pad. You'll need some oversized, blank, ceramic chips to layer in between. Use a large clamp to apply some gentle pressure after theyve heated. Just be careful, too high of heat and they'll soften and distort. Too much pressure or chips too cold and they'll crack. It can also take a couple sessions.

I wouldn't worry about what others may think. It would be one thing if you bought these from a new member and took advantage of their lack of knowledge. You bought these in an auction setting from an experienced chipper.

Try them out with your other diamonds coming, if they don't work out, just move on.

But seriously, I think you need to figure out what you want and stick with it. Otherwise your chasing too many things at once.

Appreciated. We're gonna see, saw a good deal to try out retro and am happy with it. Ill clean and update them, and may try to flatten like @Silver_Fiend mentions, got nothing to lose.

Start of something beautiful. Definitely not perfect but happy with the red color. Simple cleaning and oiling, dont think Ill do any flattening outside of experimentation on one or two.

Almost definitely, I have no idea what I'm doing. Trying to use less as I go, found pools in the first rack. Do you have a set amount? Trying to find a sweet spot but making a mess.
barely dampen a rag with mineral oil, rub it over all the chips. Take a dry rag, rub it over all the chips. done.

Definitely over oiled, still drying out after a few days of flipping but racked for a picture. These are actually pretty fun, love their feel. Yellow definitely got the worst of warping/discoloring, blacks feel absolutely fine.

Giving them a good rub with a clean towel will also help wipe off a lot of the excess oil.

They look a lot better than when I sent them to you!
I appreciate that! Okay will do. Definitely still learning and wanted to practice rehabbing on these lol.

Those were yellow? I thought they were just dingy whites. Nice work on them!
Thanks man! Lots of discoloration, some have that gross orangey stain to them but most look just fine. Ill try and sell them but if not, makes for a good little non denom set to mess around with friends who've never handled a clay chip (though many would say they've handled clay, casino weight chips with dice on them...)
