Claim Stake Casino in Sparks, NV was opened in 1979 but would later close that same year. Rumor has it there were mob ties to the casino which ultimately lead to their closure, for one reason or another. Seeing the casino from the outside, one would not entirely expect them to make some of the most fire leaded Nevada chips out there, yet they succeeded and leave a lasting legacy likely more prominent than the casino itself. Luckily, the chips ended up in the hands of Spinettis, who in turn released them to the chipping community.

Anyway, while I'll be posting an extensive amount of chip pron to kick off the thread, followed by some more random pics later on, this is not my thread and I would love if other past or present Claim Stake owners would share anything they have (mail, sets, mixed sets, singles, whatever). I know initial hauls from Spinettis produced some cool stuff. If Oscar or anyone else has anything additional to add, whether that be pics, information, or history, that would be more than welcomed.

As to my Claim Stake journey, I joined PCF in June of 2020 as a first time chipper looking for a cheap and easy set. I happened upon the Mail Pron Showcase thread and started reading from Page 1, where I came across AfterTheFact's Claim Stake set. Immediately falling in love with the chips, I started my first thread for the $5s in August of 2020 and would subsequently hunt for the $25s within the same month. Five plus years later and through the help and kindness of many chippers (and a wee bit cash), the set is now fully complete with the original $1, $5, and $25 denominations, bookended by generic hot-stamp quarters and relabeled hundreds.

In typical fashion, here is too much pron to start us off:
(Day Green kind of came out wonky w/ the camera but oh well)

Such an incredible set. Still kicking myself that I never got the real hot stamp $1’s years ago when they were (only) $300 a rack….

Beauties! Love to see the vision come to life. Years in the making right there.

Yeah, unfortunate and insane how much they are now but you do have an extremely sick relabel one and full set (pron required politely requested btw). Not to mention, you/your set is what inspired this entire thing for me. Appreciate your help throughout the years and dealing with my incessant threads as well.

Plus, I got to use your $25s in my endless WTB shit-postings  :ROFLMAO:

You inspired me to get all my ass and go ahead and clean and re-label the second rack of ones…PrOn when finished.

Not the same quality pics but second rack of $1’s finished. I need to find a suitable $100. The little guy at the bottom is a spot error chip.

Such nice pics especially out in daylight! The Hotel Nevada hundo is an absolute top top tier chip and feels like it just belongs with this set. I could never murder them but I almost considered using them and keeping as is instead of the relabel. Too perfect.

Holy cow, that's a Mount Rushmore set!!!!! Just awesome... Congrats for getting this project over the finish line.
Thanks! You still have the title of being the only person's name I've ever spelled out with these chips  .
