Hello from Germany!

My home game has been running for nearly two years now and I think it's time to get proper chips.

I have put some thought into this and read lots of related threads, but I'd like some feedback.

Most Games (currently)
1c/2c NLHE. Buy-Ins 0,50€ to 1€ with re-buys for some players while others do not ever buy back in. A lot of the players are still in university and do not want to play with "a lot" of cash (yet!). With 1c and 5c chips, the 5c is the workhorse. Most of the times it's 6-10 players.

=> Plan
100x 1c
200x 5c
200x 25c
100x 1€

Some Games (currently)
5c/10c NLHE. Buy-Ins 10€ to 20€ with re-buys. I'm getting started on establishing this group of dedicated poker players. 25c is the workhorse. This group is smaller with 6 to 8 players.

=> Plan
100x 5c
200x 25c
200x 1€
100x 5€

Future Games
25c/25c and/or 25c/50c with Buy-Ins 50€ to 100€. Since many of the group are starting to get proper jobs after finishing their degrees, I believe we might increase the stakes quite soon. I'd like to prepare for this. I think 1€ might be the workhorse here, but that might change to 5€? PCF seems to be all about "more fives!". I expect this group to be 6-8 players.

=> Plan
100x 25c
200x 1€
200x 5€
100x 20€

What I think I need
To be able to host all these stakes:

100x 1c
200x 5c
200x 25c
200x 1€
200x 5€
60x 20€
40x 50€

For a total of 1000 Chips.

I feel like less chips wouldn't work here.

Do you think that's a good breakdown and amount?

Thanks!

The fives will probably take over on your highest stakes (€100 buy ins) but the ones should dominate at the lower stakes. 200 is enough of any denomination but if you wanted more of anything I'd focus on these.

For a high value chip I wouldn't get €50 I'd get 80/20 of €20/€100, it's a more efficient way to top off your bank. Maybe it's just me but something irks me about a chip that can't be broken by the next one down.

Love the breakdown and should cover all stakes perfectly except as mentioned above... skip the 50 and get 100 and agreed you only need 1 barrel so I would also go 80 (20€)/ 20 (100€)

I love micro stakes! I only have one set that goes down to the penny

I went a little heavier with an 1,800 chip breakdown so I can easily cover 2 full tables of whatever stakes.

Another to the Nickle

Again built to cover 2 tables of whatever stakes.

Just know that it's not going to be many games before people don't want to play €.01/€.02 and they will be mostly obsolete, quarters and 1€ are going to be your work horse's

Another 2 table ready to go!

But 2 racks of each denom for 1 table should be plenty!

Good luck with the set build!

Count me as a +1 for doing a 100€ denom instead of a 50€ and adjusting to 80x 20€ and 20x 100€ as well. Really the use of a denom higher than 20€ just won't happen often unless you get up to 1-2 blinds. Doesn't even look like that's on your future radar. To tell you the truth, for the stakes you are listing, you could probably forgo anything higher than 20€, and the 20€ would only come into play in the 25c-50c stake in all likelihood, so you might find more value in reducing that and going with extra singles instead. I might suggest this.

100x 1c
200x 5c
200x 25c
260x 1€
200x 5€
40x 20€

Bank: 2121€ :)

But you did calculate this well by mashing together the right projected set for each stake :).

Edit to add. Even in the stakes you are planning for the future, fives won't come into play a ton, so if you prefer full racks, for 1000 chips.

100x 1c
200x 5c
200x 25c
300x 1€
160x 5€
40x 20€

Bank: 1961€

I will also note you could instantly drop 200 chips off your plan if you forgo the penny stakes and start at 5c-5c or 5c-10c. Then you can easily drop to 100x 5c and skip 1c entirely.

I would start with a .25 chip. For the penny games just use the chips with cent value instead of $ value. Thats what we do when we rarely play these stakes with collegues. I can use my $1/$1 set perfectly for a 1cent/2cent game. You did not mention your budget, but if you want paulsons it is difficult to find .01 and .05 chips anyway. Not to mention the € instead of $. If you get cheaper chips like from Tina the number of chips doesnot matter as much since they are much cheaper.

I have been running a .25/.25 NLHE 100bb game for a few years now with some friends. It is more of a social game than playing for cash. We also live in a lower cost of living area. So a bar tab is reasonably $25 (not $50). I keep the game simple 20x $0.25 chips and 20x $1 chips. And I aim for about 6-7 players as a sweet spot (but can handle a max of 10).

My current set is 0.25/1/5/25/100 @ 200/300/200/75/25 (800 chips) which is a pretty versatile set up. That said I rarely touch the $5 chips and never touch the $25 or $100s. And my custom set I'm currently ordering is going to be 600 chips with 0.25/1/5 @ 250/250/100. Then I'm going to get some $20 plaques. And that works well for me. But we dont really change it up all that much, and we arent big, splashy, or have big bank rolls. We are all married with kids.

You could save a ton of cash and just get 1.00/5.00/25.00/100.00 chips and when you're playing .01/.02 divide by 100.

So a .50 or 1.00 buyin would be 50 or 100 dollars/euros in chips.

I divide by 100:
