I am looking to buy a set of china clays and I understand that they can have a smell to them. Just wondering if anyone has had some bad experiences with this type of chip or does the smell generally tend to be quite subtle. Can you notice the smell if you don't put it up to your nose?

I varies how much it bothers different people. I had majestics, and really only noticed it when taking them out of the chip closet. At first I thought they smelled like crayons, and then I thought they smelled like body odor. At that point I could not play with them anymore. Honestly, I think China clays are obsolete. Unless you get them for a screaming good deal, Tina hybrids are superior in most aspects. And I was a fan of China clays too.

I owned milanos for many years. The smell dissipated... but not fully.

I would say it smells a lot like PVC. Its not terribly offensive to me, but it is noticeable. I dont have any Milanos. I'm going off Majestics and Royals.
