I'm looking for a cheap cash game set able to support a .25/.50 cash game. The set would need to be 400-600 chips and have denominations on them, although I'd be willing to consider using blanks as .25 fracs.

My budget is for CC's, with Dunes CC's at the top of the wish list. Also willing to start building a mixed Paulson set if I can find a good deal on some used/unwanted clay chips.

I'd need 100 chips for .25 fracs, at least 100 $1 chips, and at least 100 $5 chips. Other denominations can vary depending on price/availability. Ideal set would be 600 chips, broken down in the following manner:

100 - .25 fracs
200 - $1
200 - $5
75-80 - $20/25
20-25 - $100

Please let me know if you have something that could work. Thanks.

You could always use the $25 as quarters, and then it would be 100x 25c, 300x 1, 100x 5.
I did that for my quarters for a few months until I was able to get labelled quarters. It's not confusing at all, since you won't put any twenty five dollar chips in play. Even recreational players have no issue with it. Then when you get quarters, you just turn them back into $25 valued chips.

If you don't mind chips that are a little worn you can check out these used chipco casino chips:

Listing says 1000 minimum but if you ask nice he may work with you. I just picked up 2000 of these in the 1s, 5s, 25s, and 100s. Will probably resell about 800 as a set after I clean them up. All you'll need is fracs to go with them or use the yellow 2s from @navels listing as fracs.

Should you consider old non-denominated Paulson solid THCs, I could do 600 chips with this exact breakdown in 5 colours for a minimum of $360 + shipping, depending on condition.

I appreciate all the responses in this thread. I will take a closer look at each one when I get home tonight.

Will do. I’m curious though, why are you interested in my quest for CC/dirty, used chips? I’m flattered by the interest, but I’m also confused by it.

Respectfully,

What you'll find sir if you poke around the forum a bit is this place is far more than a marketplace to buy and sell used casino chips - it's a community of highly informed people with a common interest. I'll be honest - I didn't really get it at first either with all the meetups and stuff - but once you explore a little you quickly figure out that there are a lot of cool people here, most of whom have a genuine desire to contribute and be part of others' foray into what's actually a pretty neat hobby.

Tracking info. received! Now feel confident enough to discuss.

I purchased a set of Kenmore Lanes ASM A-mold chips for ~$.33/per chip plus shipping. Chips range from casino used to whatever the next category up from that is.

96 - .25 fracs
198 - $1
159 - $5

Below are the pics received from seller (chips need cleaning/oil to achieve the darker color).

Now need recommendations for a $20/$25 chip to use with these chips (I don’t care if it’s a different mold/manufacturer, as long as the chips are roughly the same size). Probably only need a couple barrels, which would put me at ~500 chips total.

Also, willing to listen to trade offers for the fracs and $5’s :)

Also, if you can't find a suitable $20/$25, $20 bills could play just fine, especially since when you get to that point, the rebuyers would be making change from the big stacks. Just make sure the bills stay on the table.

Awesome find!

These chips were collecting dust on a shelf at the home of the seller, who PM’ed me through this thread (thanks PCF!)

I’m glad to hear the positive feedback on the chips, gives me hope to use some as trade bait :)

$20’s play in the home game, but bright green $20/25 chips would be so much more fun to use. And if it was ever necessary, I do like the thought of $100 plaques!

I’d go with the new Presidential currency ones that Apache sells. Those are fire!

But need to worry about the $20 chips first.

This community will never cease to surprise me on the mutual care for fellow chippers. Brings a god damn tear to my eyes!

If the Kenmore Lanes $1’s were a lighter blue (like the gorgeous $1’s in that Garden City set), I’d be all over it. I’d be worried my $1’s and those $20’s might blend in a little bit.

I think I want a bright or neon $20 chip for that reason - something that would stand out against the others, but hopefully still complements the Kenmore Lanes $1’s.

I’d pick up some other inlayed a molds and get some gear labels for your $20/$25. Per chip would probably cost more than double the great deal you got on the rest of the set, but there wouldn’t be a large number of chips... just sayin’...

Great pick up btw.

Seems like you guys are against mixing molds. Are there functional reasons not to create a mixed molds set?

Or is it more of a “you’re pretty close to having a playable cash set of A-molds...might as well complete it” type of scenario?

Mxing molds could lead to different stack heights (hell, sometimes the same molds have this problem!), but you're talking about mixing manufacturers... MY OCD is pinging off the charts.
