We lost one of our players three weeks ago to a heart attack. Today we had a charitable event in his honor, raising $2,100 for his charity. 33 players plus re-entries. We held back 25% for the charity. Still 13 players in. Likely go another 2-3 hours.

Of course, we had a hot dog sandwich machine.

First time catching this as well.

It is great that you were able to do a charity fundraiser in the name of your friend. I've thought about something similar, but I know at our stakes and attendance, it would be a meaningless gesture. To have so many willing to surrender 25% of the pool - that is just awesome.

Not only 25% of $100 buy-ins, but we also had a chip draw and auction. Starting stacks were 12,000. We put nine 1,000 chips and one 5,000 chip in a bucket. They could pull out three chips for $20. All but a couple players did. We did this twice. Also auctioned off a $5,000 chip. Got $70. 100% of the chip draw and auction went to the charity. Our players were awesome to so willingly support this event.

That's why it's important to keep poker illegal in Tennessee. All those ruffians donating money, helping out others and having a good time while doing it. We can't have the likes of them around here :meh:

Illegal in KS also. Home poker games are not legal. Charity poker is not legal. We just don’t give a sh*t. Been playing for 50 years. Yea, I’m an old nit.
