Hi, new member to the site here. I am about to buy some chips either from the chip room or on various classified sale threads and I am wondering about a breakdown of my home game which runs 6-8 handed $1/1 $1/2 with buyins from $150-$250.

Im thinking:
$1 (100x)=$100
$5 (400x) =$2000
$25 (60)=$1500
total bank=$3600
Is there really a need for more ones? My friends like them but often they are only used pre flop and with rebuys change can always be made.

I prefer at least another rack of ones or another 50 is fine as well. But you are right 100 (10 each person) should be good enough. My friends like to have more chips in front of them.

A rack of $1's is all you need for eight players at those stakes.

The total bank does strike me as low in relation to the buy-in amount.

For the extra it would cost, you may be better off having a full rack of 25's.

8 ppl @ $150 with your current chip count

how would you start 10x1s (10 chips) 18x5s (18 nickels) 2x$25 (2 chips) per person? x8 1st buy in 80 x1s 144 x 5s 16x25s is this how you would like starting stack?

to me limited ones might push the betting in the high range another rack of ones might allow some 3 or 4 dollar bets. of course they can keep changing 5s for singles...what do you think about this

20x1s 16x5s 2x25s so total start would be 160x1s 128 x5s 16x25s and use the remainder for rebuys

i would say this minimal for 8 ppl table @150
2 racks of 1s
3 racks 5s
3 barrels of 25s
and add an extra rack of 5s and another barrel of 25s in case you want a 200 buy in

I think you're pretty good here. You might want to add another 20*25 and 20*100 if you can. That would put you at an even 600 chips and bulk your bank another 250.

Usually I am about minimizing blind chips but having hosted 0.50-1 games more than 100 singles is handy, maybe do 150 and step down the fives by 50.
Or a total of 150/350/80/20 for a bank of 5950.

Good luck.

If your do decide to keep to 100 singles your 600 chips should be 100/400/80/20 of 1/5/25/100. 6100 in bank.

I think this is your best choice, my suggestion above is good if you want to do a few more singles. 200 singles is overkill, 150 is a decent middle ground and singles are more of a workhorse in 1-1 games on early streets.
