CARDS MOLD SHOWCASE! (10 Viewers)

Kardamon Poker Club.
Beyond satisfied with how these turned out.
Already thinking of maybe bringing a white .25 chip if I ever play smaller with a different crowd. I guess chipping really is addicting :D

Has anyone done a relabel on the card mold? Does the center area have enough depth to add a label and it not stick out?

No, there's no depth at depth at all. The mold and ring is debossed on the surface, but the rest of the surface, including the center, is the same depth/height.

There are hybrid chips that have labels which if removed does have a recess.

ok, thanks. from the pictures the ring makes it look like the center area may be lower, that's a helpful clarification.

Even if there were a recess and these had labels applied as part of the original production process, new labels (even in expensive ones) would be a significant fraction of the cost of new and fully custom Tina cards mold chips.

I have my own printer to make the labels... and I was thinking of ordering Bellagio style chips with just the tan center without the Bellagio name, and then doing my own labels since I missed out on the tribute buy to recreate them.

The new current group buy is for the small crown mold ceramics and does have a recessed inlay.

Which group buy? Also, isn’t that a hybrid chip that should have a label? Someone’s said (and the picture above shows) that the recess means the dye sublimation printing doesn’t transfer well to the recess. (When these were first posted, I had an idea about having a “base” design printed in the recess and then a label for the “real” design but you could revert to be base by removing the label.)

After the cards, the diamonds, the hat and cane, ... the small crown.

I've not seen a single mold coming from that company which is not copied from the work of a legit company.

Those were the first prototypes which is why it shows the print like that, Yes, the print doesn’t transfer properly into the recess. They can either have a label (unsure of quality) or no label for you to put your own on after.

I've been lurking here for several months, and finally decided to join(I've already done a post in the intro section). I've seen everyone talking about the card mold chips, but didn't know where to get any other than the group buys. A couple of weeks ago, I saw that Apache poker chips had started offering them in 3 designs, so I ordered samples. The "Empire" set won out, so I ordered a small cash set. They cost a bit more than doing the group buy, but I'll gladly pay the "get it now" tax to a forum sponsor. Just arrived today, and I am thrilled! I'd say that I like the BRPro chips better, but for 1/2 the price, the cards mold are more than fine.

Thumbs for the designer who nicely managed white on black which, with ceramics, is always a pain to get correctly printed without bleeding.

Here, the designer just picked the right amount of boldness in the graphical elements to avoid bleeding and without making the design elements looking "fat".

After much consideration about doing this as a second CPC set, I decided to go the quicker and cheaper road. Thanks to @TheOffalo for converting my design into print files. I'm really happy with the result. The only thing that I would change: the bird in the inlay is color matched to the chip base color. That works for every chip except for the $20. Here it is too dark with a lack of contrast.
And yes I know I stole some of the color combos (or even spots) of another quite popular set. I thought I should share anyway. Sorry upfront for my non-existent photo-skills.

Super happy with these - especially for the price. :)

Very few qualms about the set. I would like to change the 25cent chip slightly, but still very happy with it.

A few alignments are slightly off, but it's rare.

And I noticed that at least this one chip (probably more) has a faded color. Probably something funky during manufacturing. Not a big deal, still amazing chips! (faded/blurry on the right/top)

These are eye catching.

Black inlays are the best

Sorry if this has been asked before. For those that have done custom cards mold sets, what software did you use to design them? I've been playing around with the Paulson designer in the resources section, but I don't know how well that translates to Tina. It also doesn't have a way to design the edge spots on the edge. Thanks!

You will want to hire a designer to put your design and colors in AI format

Your best bet is to use a custom designer. They are generally quite reasonable and well worth the cost. You can use the designer tools (the Paulson one, and the one on the CPC website) to come up with ideas. Then take that to a designer to have him make tweaks and prepare the actual graphic files to send to Tina.

Wow, some quick replies, thanks! I'll look into that. So far, I'm just messing with the colors and edge spots. I have an idea for the "inlay", but don't have the artistic ability to actually make it in paint, or photoshop.
