Simple and short questions, COPAG, KEM or other cards?; Poker size or bridge?

Poker vs bridge is all preference. Try a bunch; get KEM, Guild, Fournier, Broken Arrow, Faded Spade, Gemaco, all that nonsense. You're gonna hear all kinds of opinions, but you gotta figure out what you like and don't like. Jumbo vs standard, stiff vs flexy, dark red vs bright red. All kindsa nonsense.

When you realize you hate KEMs, we'll be waiting for you. No rush.

Fournier, Dal Negro, Angels, KEM, Trefl, Modiano Platinium

different prices, different quality/price ratio

It’s hard to guess what you (the OP) are going to like. Like chips, cards all feel different, even within the same brand name. I have some Dal Negro decks that feel more rough on the backside than other Dal Negro decks.

Start with a popular one and test it for yourself. If you don’t like them, you can easily sell them on here. Just make sure you don’t wreck them when you test drive them and be honest in your description.

I use poker size large index Modiano Fournier and Copag.
Of the 3, I prefer Fournier the best, and Modiano the least of the 3.

I don’t care for bridge size with the jumbo index. It reduces the size of the face cards too much in my opinion. I like seeing the artwork on the face cards.

I agree in regard to Desjgn cards, standard index looks better

Simple and short answer - OTHER. (Copags are garbage - they fade really fast. Kems are expensive and susceptible to warping but YMMV). Poker vs bridge is all personal preference.

Desjgn are a really nice card to go with and just about everybody here likes them. I also like Broken Arrow. Fourniers are also nice but hard to source here in the US. Bicycle Prestige used to be a rebranded Fournier but now they come out of China. This forum has a love hate relationship with Faded Spade for stiffness so I'd pass on them if you hand shuffle the cards. I've been seeing a lot of positive feedback on Lot Fancy and they're cheap. Modiano Platinums are really nice but hard to source and they only come in Poker size. Angel's are really nice but the only source is Amazon.jp.

Just start with Desjgn and go from there.

Pretty much my conclusion however I on the other side of Atlantic so Modiano Platinium, Fournier and Dal negro are easier to source

I am team bridge jumbo. Bridge is easier to shuffle, especially if you have less experienced shufflers self dealing. Also takes up less space on the board. Jumbo is easier for everyone to read, especially across the table. I find DesgJn's standard index to be like a semi jumbo and like it fine.

Caution on Copags if you have never handled them. A select few of us have a gene (it seems) that makes us ultra sensitive to the smell. I cannot play with them without getting headaches. Smell does not seem to fade with time.

My preference is for DesgJn and Modianos/Davinci. I find the budget plastic cards from Broken Arrow and the "Classic" ones sold by thepokerstore to be acceptable too.

I do not like how Faded Spades handle. I am a competent shuffler but kept spilling the deck.

At the risk of getting myself banned, I am also fine with a fresh deck of good paper cards. Wish you could get Bee in jumbo bridge.

If you like jumbo / bridge combination you must try Dal Negro Grand Slam. Absolutely lovely cards

+1 Dal Negro. Modiano is also nice.

I haven’t tried the “newer” card companies like desjn and faded spade. How do they compare?

Modiano are trash, only the Platinum are decent, but I would not buy from a vendor that defrauded this community. I have a limited amount of setups prior to learning about it. The review is unbiased.

KEM when owned by the US Playing Card Co. was fantastic, now I value them as I do Copaq. The older stuff is great, but the quality has lowered and the risk of warping and the stock lowers the value to me.

I love the Angels, Fournier, Dal Negro, Desjgn and trefl.

Trefl does have some warping but not much.

Faded spade version 3 might be worth it to new customers, but I feel they robbed me on the past versions of their products.

There are reasons for the size of the cards and pros and cons, use the search tool for that info

Modiano in bridge size looks quite peculiar, font is sort of deformed

Gemaco Superflex !

I like stiffer cards, and darker reds. Ideally too in like a half jumbo size (kind of like Faded Spade), but any font size will do.

+1 on the copag smell gene... Also don't like their level of top card float which also drives me nuts.

Bridge jumbo here

Get what you like and plays well for you.

Just make sure they are 100% plastic, unless you intend to throw away a paper deck after every game.

4 colour deck doesn't hurt, but then your brand choices go WAAAAY down.

In Europe your main choices are (in order or price) Copag, Modiano & Fournier, all poker size and all jumbo index (you can get bridge size and narrow indexes but a lot harder to source than North America. There are other brands available but these are the ones you can easily get in my experience:

Copag - cheapest premium plastics, often not as bad a Copag out of Brazil (in N/America) but do fleck and fade quicker than the other two brands - Do the job very well if you can get them at a price which is substantially less than Modiano/Fournier.

Modiano - Middle of the road, bit stiffer, bit thicker than the other two, nice quality cards but not so nice for the dealer all night long, decks will last a similar amount of time as Fournier.

Fournier - In terms of price, durability, playability and longevity the winner for me and also the winner in most European Casinos nowadays, pay more for a deck but will get your money back on them.

I can confirm what @stuamurr wrote, the (old) Copacs from Brazil are superb!
Old because here not longer available... The actual standard and double deck Copacs are aweful IMO.
They have 'sharp' edges, are slippery and they're worn down a bit fast.
Elites are a bit more comfortable, but also smelly...

Fourniers have differences too. The 28.. are stiffer than the 25.. i like both, but would absolutely love if they switch cover!

Modiano i don't like, except the Platinums. The best cards in all terms. 5 bucks more the deck but such more quality.
Nothing feels like these. Would love some cover varieties!

Bullets are new to me. First impressions not bad at all! By far the roughest cover i ever felt. Could be great or crap?
Average price. If they are robust - definately a great deck of cards.

Played only once KEM - super nice cards but not really availabe, and seems to bow. Wich is a no go when self-dealing.

Dal Negro, Desjgn, F-spade, Lazar and all the others i don't know...

These are the cards i use (top left good to bottom right "bad") Bullets i placed in the middle, to be confirmed...
