I have a set of poker buddies. we havent grown in ages. its been the same 6-7 guys for 12 years now and i cannot seem to figure out how to attract other players. the community in my area mainly plays texas and we are a predominantly omaha game.

Have some Hold’em nights to get to know some of those players. Then as the night winds down and you are 4-5 handed suggest PLO since it is a better game short handed.

It worked for my Hold’em players.

As the host, it's your responsibility to keep the game stocked with new players and fish. Aside from inviting the usual friends and coworkers, you can head to your local poker room. There, you can sit in an Omaha game while you and your friends talk about the game with other players. Depending on the house, they either do not care or will throw you out, so know before you speak. Anyway, this is how we keep our game stocked with new money. We've got a list of 20+ players to draw on. Seems to work. Good luck.

Try a "Bring a Friend" night.

Socialize. Talk up your game as much as possible. Try and get a new player every month - eventually one will stick. Rinse & Repeat.

The local bar poker leagues worked for me. Most of these players are wanting to have a game but just dont know anyone. We get 30 players for our tournaments on a regular basis now. It took us nearly 3+ years to get where we are tho.

Try meetup.com, I met a couple on there this past week that after chatting with them and some prescreening, I determined they'd be a good fit for my game and they will be coming to my tournament end of this month.

Also don't be afraid to check out your local bar free poker league. That's where the couple I met said they typically play and they have a small group of players from the freeroll leagues they offered to bring for future growth.

There's a lot of people that would love to get down on some rake free poker, especially something like 25c/50c where the action can get juicy but it's still cheaper than buying in for $200 at your local $1/$2 venue.
