Can someone tell me some history of the Nevada jack clay ? (1 Viewer)

Curious, have had 100’s of these chips for years. Noticing as the spots change so do the inlays a bit. As does the base color when the spots do. 2 runs? Material in the blanks must have changed.

I think you have a mix of versions and that is why the spots and inlays differ slightly.

I know that there are two versions of this chip series, one by ASM and one by BCC.

All the ones that have 312 spots are ASM, and the 25c chips with the less bright white are ASM. The rest are BCC.

Awesome chips! As others have said I think you have a mix of ASM and Blue Chip Co. chips. I have always loved all versions of these chips.

The mold itself was designed by Bernard “Bud” Jones in 1965, and was originally owned by his Nevada Dice Co. It was used for casino chips mainly in Nevada up until the mid 1980s. Bud Jones sold the mold to Bill Borland around 1991, who used it mainly for non-casino chips. ASM got ownership of the mold around 2000, and Nicholas Bates had ASM make chips on the mold for his Nevada Jacks line of chips beginning in 2002.

In 2007, Nicholas Bates (co-owner of Nevada Jacks) bought the mold from ASM, and had the Blue Chip Company (BCC) manufacture Nevada Jacks chips on the mold until 2010. From what I understand, the mold itself may have been destroyed in a warehouse fire in 2014.
