Was involved in a disagreement about the technicalities of the rule; and couldn’t find the rule. is this actually a rule? If you check back nuts IP is it a penalty instead of just missed value?
It’s a penalty where I play but I’ve never seen anything actually come from it other than a warning. Do it twice and you’re gone, from what I’ve heard.
Oh. I assumed @Frogzilla was talking about checking back on the river to go straight to showdown. Obviously there's no rule against checking back on earlier streets
It was enforced at least once on camera at the WSOP in the past but I am blanking on the situation. The idea is to prevent collusion in major tournaments.
Rule 40 of WSOP rule. This is considered soft play. Other players may be expecting the player with the nuts to have more chips by the end of the hand. Penalty is based on the judgment of the tournament director ranging from disqualification to 1-hand penalty.
No one cares if you check back the nuts in a cash game, so this is a tournament only rule.
