Sitting Out
I wanted a playable set of the classic 1980’s
Bud Jones Cactus Pete’s coin inlay chips.
My hunt started off strong, but quickly ran out of steam when I discovered that the chips were not exactly in abundance. It would have cost me an arm and a leg to make the set uniformly, without mixing it. While I do have quite a few Pete’s chips in the set, the fill in chips are roughly the same color and design.
I was able to source similar looking chips in higher quantities for less money than I was spending “the hard way”.
I have included pictures for reference of all the chips used to make the set. Obviously the McCarlies are not an exact match but will work for cash in my opinion. I ran across the “Amusement” Chips and picked them up very cheap to get a little more distance out of the set. I thought they blended well, personally.
Altogether I currently have 367 chips in the set and a few more on the way. I do not have an exact count on the Pete’s at the moment.
My Approximate tally is
60-$1
45-$5
4-$25
In original CP chips.
Needless to say, it was not an inexpensive venture but the hard part is done in terms of spending. I WILL be checking pockets on the way out the door when the set is employed at home
Thanks for looking! I had fun putting it together. Let me know what you think!
