Cash Game Blinds for $100 buyin cash game? (1 Viewer)

Ive been running a .25/.50 game with a max buyin of $60 (just easier when people are using 20's to buyin) and I've noticed the regular raise tends to get in the $2-3 dollar range, sometimes $5. So I was just thinking about raising the max to $100, but what should I do with the blinds? Keep them, .5/1, or 1/1? Overall its a pretty chill game, but there have been nights when there can be close to 1,000 on the table if we go on for a while.

its a good question about the fracs. ive just noticed they rarely get used. i think myself and my one friend will raise in frac denoms, ie 1.50, 2.50, etc. but i believe thats because we are thinking about "proper raises" (ie 3x bb and + 1 bb for each caller) vs the rest of the group is raising in terms of absolute dollar amount.

Sure. I like keeping fracs because it feels wild to raise 6 bb ($3) instead of 3 bb ($3), but some players don't care about the distinction and that's fine. Tight players prefer paying 0.75 cents a round rather than $2, but all games different.

I fully agree with this. My group also loves the option to buy in deep. A few players stick with $60 for the first BI but most go full hundo.

With inflation I would just bump it to .50-$1 for the lower stakes folks. And for the rest of us we could do $1-$1 for $150 max or $1-$2 for $300 max. Yes I understand that .50-$1 is essentially $1-$1. But for some players it makes a big difference in terms of comfort. Plus, I gotta put these damn fracs to use.

If I were starting a new game aimed at a $100 typical buy-in, I would do .50/1, but if you're talking about expanding the max buy-in of an existing game to $100, I'd keep it at .25/.50.

If you want less fracs go .5/1 and use a 50c chip.

I went from $50 max to $100 max at my 25c/50c game about a decade ago and my players like it. However, we used to do match-half-the-big-stack and the game was playing too big so I changed that to "if your stack is less than $50 you can reload up to $150" and it's been working out good the last few games.

I don't mind if the game gets big, just not too quickly. Typically, we play from 4 pm to 2 am. I do 100 max first 4 hours or until someone has 400, then it goes 1/2 match or 200, whichever is larger, and typically they are close around 8 pm. We are also playing PLO. I much prefer PL to NL, and in most NLH games, the bets are typically pot-sized anyway.

Also, I really like .5/.5, it sells the game well, and if someone is being frugle it feels better.

I think the general rule is to let players top-off any amount, up to the max, anytime between hands.

Blinds simply start the action. .25/.50 seems appropiate based on the pre-flop raises. Have you considered raising the buy-in amount from x to $60 to $60 to $100?

Oh, I should have clarified; you can reload at any time up to the max of $100, but if under $50 you can reload up to $150.

I find most of my players only reload to $100 regardless of stack size, it's just a few degens (the same few who wanted half-the-big-stack) who reload to $150.

I allow rebuys up to half the deep stack. Honestly, there are only a couple of is that take advantage of it. It hasn't become an issue.

Somewhere along the way over the past 10-15 years or so, for cash games 100BB went from normal to short stack. I think 200BB is becoming the new norm, and that's what I have adjusted to when I host now.

Depends on how often you play/ how many buy in your players usually bring.

We do up to half as we play pretty often and generally only run one table so it reduces chances of a game breaking cause players are out of buy ins.

This is what we do at my game, but be aware that it gives an advantage to stronger players.

Once or twice a year I'll do a $1/$1 NLHE/Big O round x round game with a $200 max buy in. The players seem to enjoy the change of b pace.

At first it is... which is fun. But as stacks grow the game becomes more nuanced.

I've ran single table $100 max games and within 90 minutes there's $3k on the table.
