This will almost certainly turn into me hunting down a full-on Inplay set, so ideally it would be nice to limit it to those.

Do the Protégés handle/feel similar to the Inplays? I know there's a lot of heterogeneity and different versions of the Protégés, but seems less so for the Inplays?

Same chip mfg, same mold, just different inlays.

I had a custom set made for me using inplay inlays done on modern clay chips
BEFORE I even knew there were chip sites and people fanatically doing customs.

At the time it was way cheaper to do with existing mfg art than having a real custom design done.
I could pick what chips to put the inlay on and it was done.
I am probably the only person to do that on the modern clay chip lineup.
The only 'custom' modern clay mold set.

I have both and would say they are very similar but slightly different in feel/sound.

Not as bad as the Protégés, but variation does exist in Inplays as well. Kind of annoying, but some may call it the charm in clay/BCC sets

Updated with needs to round out my set. I also have a trade thread up with some extras I have
