My set of 568 Aztar Striped Tourney chips is up for sale!

These are not your run of the mill standard Aztar tourneys - these are rare and especially beautiful chips, nicknamend "Aztar Striped Tourneys". Only very few sets of these are out there. Correct me if I am wrong, but probably just 5 or so.
This is probably the only chance you will ever get to own a set of Aztar tourneys, since I would assume all collectors owning one will hold fast to such a trophy set.

This set is ranked among the top sets among collectors, and certainly deserves the term of Holy Grail.

This is the breakdown:
25 160
100 162
500 125
1000 100
5000 21

The first and last of the pictures below show the set as it is now. In between, you find the pictures I took in 2009, when the set encompassed 5s as well, but had less of the higher denominations. You may know them from my weekly chip pr0n over on CT.

The price for the chips is USD 3,600

Shipping is extra, of course, and depends on where you live, and the service you want. I myself live in Berlin, Germany. Since the parcel will weigh more than 5 kg, the prices are as follows:
- standard shipping to US, Canada and most overseas destinations (takes 3 weeks or more): EUR 53.99
- if you want premium shipping (10-14 days, air mail guaranteed): + EUR 34.00
- if you want insurance: + EUR 56.00 for value of EUR 4,000.00 max, + EUR 70.00 for value of EUR 5,000.00 max
Shipping to EU destinations is EUR 15.99 premium shipping, insurance is extra at the same rates as above.
If you live somewhere else, please PM me for exact shipping costs.

Payment: by money transfer, or PayPal
a) PayPal Friends&Family comes with a fee on my end, since I live in Germany, and you probably live overseas from here. For most overseas residents, it is 5%, and includes paypal's currency conversion fee.
b) Money transfer (wiring the money from your bank account to my bank account) is without any fees on my end, but will cost something on your end. From experience I can say this is in many cases cheaper than paypal!
buyers from the EU: There are no payment fees! PayPal F&F is free, as well as a wire transfer.

I have a lot of experience with overseas shipping, and chip packaging. In my heyday I owned 46 different sets of poker chips, nearly all of which I bought from overseas. About 20 of them have been sold over the years, also mostly overseas. I have never lost any shipment, and I have a very good idea of what professional chip packaging looks like. I promise the chips will arrive safe and sound!

Am I the only one who keeps coming back day after day after day just to look at these chips. Absolutely awesome. I'm putting playing with these chips on my bucket list (I'm dead serious too!).

You're not the only one.
Am I the only one who wonders why there has been no bid ?

................ Reserve OFF ! :)

I'm not going to be amazed; or you don't think there will be any last day action? If the later, I will take a friendly "loser buys a beer" bet:D

I am not bidding or getting involved at all myself, but I think there will be some bids. The only question is how intense the bidding would get :p

the starting bid is between a primary and secondary set of Cleveland HS with the same denoms at the latest prices, and these were in much greater supply. Just saying

Since no one has bid, and I do not know if some people were planning with the 10th (the original end date of the auction) - I have set the end of the auction to the 10th, as it was originally.

So you still have a chance to get your hands on these chips.

I think a lower reserve price would kickstart the bidding action. Or I think you'd have no problem selling out raffle tickets to meet your asking price...

^^^ I must agree a raffle would be a nice way to sell these. In that case it may be helpful if someone in the US would act as an escrow, however, to avoid the international transaction fees.

I don't think this will change anything. We are all following. Bidding will likely wait for the last day.

Since there were no bids, I am converting the auction to a standard sale - the reserve price of USD 3,600 is the lowest amount I am willing to let the set go for, so this is still what I am asking for. Shoot me a PN if you would like to buy the set. I am updating the OP accordingly. Thank you for your interest!

70 raffle tickets at $50 each should also do the trick in just a few days

Dr John you could use the two stars of Euromillions lottery, it will give 66 combination numbers => around ~$55 usd tickets
and members could choose their numbers it's funny

Hmmm -- doesn't the auction still have 30 minutes to go? 1400 PDT = 1700 EDT, and it's 1630 here now...

thanks for the input, but a raffle is too much of a hassle for me

Totally understand. Too much hassle for me too, although I think it's become one of the best ways to sell high-priced sets. Maybe someone else can manage it for you in exchange for a free entry ticket?

Nothing stopping anybody from organizing a separate group buy thread for this set -- either breaking it into smaller sets, piecing it out by racks, or conducting a winner-take-all raffle.

All @DrJohn really wants is $3600 plus shipping and a single destination where to send them.
